The waiting area is the finest I’ve seen with a host of games to play and a great wee bar to keep you fed and watered. I didn’t know to expect and hadn’t read ahead. I’m unsure if this was wise. Maybe I wouldn’t have done this room if I’d read about it. I’m not going to give any spoilers so I’ll just say it’s the craziest thing I’ve ever done. I’m still not really sure what I did or why. I’ve watched the video of our progress back and I still don’t know what I did or why. I have no idea how things happened but I do know I laughed a lot, had an amazing time and would highly recommend this experience to others. To be clear this is an experience and not an escape room. Bring as many people as you can find and have an unforgettable experience of your own.

The whole experience is a delight and solving each and every puzzle is a joy. Some we did independently and some were so much fun that we chose to work on them together. We were happy with our haul of 11 pineapples but instantly wanted to go back in to complete every puzzle. Already booked for the next room in September and currently trying to fit In the Christmas room. This is a wonderful, family friendly, experience that focusses on fun puzzle solving. Treat yourself to a great day out.
Outatime - Through the DecadesEscapable - Thornes Lane WharfEscape roomIRLAn outstanding experience from start to finish. Wonderful decoration and theming throughout the room. There was a great mix of puzzles in terms of difficulty level and type, and we each got turns to feel a little slow or a bit smug. Our GM was as wonderful as last time we visited and was so kind and accommodating in helping us arrange a future visit with their special guest. We’d highly recommend this room and can’t wait to return.

This story was fun and engaging, and got us doing things we’ve never done before in an escape room. Everything is beautiful. Everything is designed and made to an exacting standard and made me want to stay in the 1930s. It’s fun-filled non-stop puzzling from start to finish and we can’t wait to get back. If you’ve yet to visit Escape Quest but are a puzzle fan then treat yourself and get booked in. Elaine and Mike are a joy who know their craft and treat you like welcome friends.

It is an exceptional example of a room that challenges you and rewards you continuously for a full hour. There’s a varied range of puzzles so we were constantly busy on tasks that appealed. You can give up on something that’s frustrating and find twenty other things to entertain you. We found it a joy from start to finish and would happily go back and work on different puzzles. If solving puzzles appeals to you then treat yourself to an hour of fun. And, if you are passionate about escape rooms, have a chat with Alex after you’ve experienced his handy work. We can’t wait to return and try the other rooms.
Mistletoe MysteriesEscape Quest United KingdomEscape roomIRLIt is a genuine pleasure to visit Chapelgates and a joy to talk with Elaine and Mike before and after the adventure. Everything about Escape Quest is planned and executed to the highest standard. The puzzles are fun, engaging and so unique and challenging that we talk about them long after we leave. We only have one mystery left to solve and this saddens me but I am more than excited to start right back at the beginning and do each mystery again. This company is the gold standard of escape rooms in the UK and I would encourage anyone who has yet to visit this beautiful street to get booked in as soon as possible. You really won’t regret it.

Fran and Richard have done a wonderful job and their enthusiasm and love of escape rooms shines through in every part of the experience. We loved The Jail experience. It had a super array of puzzles and some of them even allow for that head slap moment. We honestly came out feeling smart! Go and support them and enjoy escaping from The Jail.

The hosts were wonderful and their passion shines through in every beautiful detail and clever puzzle. If you love puzzles and haven’t been here yet then treat yourself to an hour of joy. Update: Now on our second visits to Elaine and Mike. I can’t begin to describe the amount of fun we have here. These rooms are just our favourite. The quality of puzzle, the workmanship and the warm welcome leave us full of joy and constantly planning a return. Go if you haven’t been yet!
The LocktopusKnockout Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLJust wonderful. A puzzler’s paradise but be warned this room is quite the challenge. Maybe don’t try this if you’re quite new to escaping. We went through phases of busily solving and phases of just standing still and staring at things. Everything looks amazing and everything is covered in puzzles that call to you. The main computer and the pads for inputting answers are enticingly good and keep calling you back. Finally, our warm welcome from Ash was wonderful. He guided us through with patience, humour and enthusiasm even though it was late at night and we were tired and not at our best. Make peace with the fact that you will not get close to completing every puzzle - you won’t even see many of them - and just have a hectic hour of puzzling joy.
Hut 17Cipher EscapeEscape roomIRLExceptional. We visited immediately after a pretty poor experience somewhere else and in the middle of a heatwave. We had to take an Uber and found ourselves in the middle of an industrial estate,an hour early and with frustration and heat exhaustion starting to take over. We went into the go karting building, which is joined onto Cipher Escape, where we enjoyed big fans and cold drinks before an an unassuming young man approached us and said he was Lincoln our GM and would take us into Cipher Escape because it was air conditioned. We followed him next door and the fun began. I won’t give spoilers but will just say go and do this fabulous room. It is atmospheric, challenging, surprising and just fun. Lincoln continued to blow us away with his hosting. Yes he was totally engaging and clearly loves his wonderful room, but it was the thoughtful touches like he moved us into the cooler room even though he had prepared a different room prior to our arrival. He offered refreshments and free snacks! He talked through every aspect of the room and our successes and failures in relation to the puzzles. The room is tough but every second was a joy. We got to do new puzzles and use new props, and everything felt authentic to the theme. Again, an exceptional experience.
