Hope EndThe Ministry Of PeculiaritiesEscape roomIRLGreat experience! Not a traditional escape room so this is not for purists. It is more live theater but with puzzles. They will hurry you along even if you haven’t solved everything so that you can experience the full story so don’t expect to hit all the puzzles if you’re not fast. Make sure you have good communicators because you’ll be split up. I enjoyed the story details and the live actors, and appreciate them accommodating my irrational fear of jump scares.
40 ThievesMindTrap Escape Room - TemeculaEscape roomIRLBeautiful set design, theatrical experience, with seamless tech and tactile puzzles. Loved that many puzzles require teamwork which are my favorite kind with nonlinear puzzles for each section. Very obvious why so many love this one and glad that the hype was real.
Cutthroat Cavern13th Gate EscapeEscape roomIRLIncredible set design and special effects and some really fun elements in this room. It’s popular for a reason! I would say there were some bottlenecking moments that cost us vital puzzle-solving time and it was hard to hear the GM in parts of the room.
Time MachineNot Another Escape RoomEscape roomIRLHands down my favorite escape room in Orange County to date. Fun story details, amazing tech, immersive story and challenging puzzles requiring good team work are all on my list of favorite things about escape rooms. The game masters were enthusiasts too and it shows! Recommend at least 3 for this one.
Treasure IslandBrain Games Escape RoomEscape roomIRLIf you have played 60Out’s Tiki Time, this uses similar set design but the puzzles are 99% brand new and this room is so much more fun and packed with puzzles. Had a great time as a team of 2, but teams of 4 would probably be good. Can’t wait to see what else this company does with their rooms because they are solid!
The Edison Escape RoomPalace GamesEscape roomIRLThe use of tech in this room is like you’re in a real life video game. This room requires observant puzzle lovers who can communicate well without getting frustrated with each other. Team work makes the dream work! I’d recommend doing some sprints before you try this room because you’ll be sweating ;) This room automatically adapts to your group size but I’d recommend at least 6 people.
The Last SupperQuest TavernEscape roomIRLAs a scaredy cat, I had to suck it up to experience this well-loved escape room and it is so worth it. Puzzles were medium difficulty but the improv and atmosphere made up for less difficult puzzles. They did their best to make it less scary for me and I so appreciate it! Love this company in general because it’s clear the owners are puzzle lovers and mix in theme so well.
Stash HouseStash HouseEscape roomIRLThe story starts from the moment you arrive in this shady part of LA at this strange building and it’s a rollercoaster ride from there on out. Such great themed puzzles testing a variety of skills and requiring lots of team work. Great for big groups, and I’d recommend at least 4 for this one.
Level99 RoomsLevel99Escape roomOther Chuck E Cheese for the escape room enthusiasts community, and it’s got that same sense of fun! Lots of variety of puzzles and physical challenges, some straightforward and some that may require hints, but all such an enjoyable snack-size treat. Some we played multiple times in a row for the challenge or joy of it. Love the flexibility to do the puzzles you want to do.
