Motel BettyOmventure - MarkhamEscape roomIRLWithout Spoiling anything: Epic game, maybe the best escape room in Toronto, and surely one any enthusiast in the city must do. Really good use of a live actor in terms of a horror game. Great set, good tech. Go play it. My personal criticisms, the fact that i liked it so much is the reason why i am also so critical, because i hope they take it to the next level in their upcoming room. -They shouldnt give you any backround story in the beginning other than the fact that you take refuge from the rain in this motel - everything else should be uncovered naturally! -The puzzles: alot of clever ones, but some were janky, more of your classic escape room puzzles, that can often times have quite abstract logic - the puzzles should originate organically, "mimetically", from the set. The best puzzles were the ones that involved a degree of terror to them, that seperated and isolated the group, that meshed with the setting. -The hint system could be frustrating to use -More scares! and there were lots of scares! but i think they could have even ramped it up. -The second half, though having some great moments, also got a little cheesy, in narrative and in puzzles, and kind of broke the seriousness which seems crucial to the sense of horror.\
The Tomb: Raiders of the SwordRevo EscapeEscape roomIRLRevo have done it again with another amazing room. One of the best in Toronto. Be aware it is a physical room - in a fun way. Puzzles are ingenious, and it has a great finale that brings it all together.
