Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express
Escapology - Orlando
Escape room
IRL
Agatha Christie's estate should highly consider getting out of this licensing agreement... Some fun puzzles, but this was a slog. The plotline takes place after the resolution of the novel and was utterly nonsensical if you know the book and characters - a real shame given the high quality source material. Never has Agatha Christie been so dull... And if you have read the book (you definitely should), you will like this even less. Leftover remnants of old removed puzzles will almost certainly throw people off - the GM described these elements as "oh, we just left that there"... Well, ok then... And lots of laminated pages of information - some of my least favorite things in a game.
A Knight to Escape
The Escape Effect

The group is split almost the entire time - unique among split rooms (for me they have been limited to 15 minutes apart and then reuniting). Knights and dungeons is not my favorite theme, so I wasn't wowed in that way, but the puzzles were good. And SO MANY KEYS! One thing holding this back from being a superb game is there is too much dead time on one side while waiting for the other side to figure out what they're doing. However, when both sides were working together, it worked very well.
The Crying Cactus

Antidote: Chemical Warfare

Not great, and the theme has been done much better elsewhere, but fun nonetheless. Old school type of game. Could use a few more puzzles - too short.
Bros for Life: Fraternity Heist
The Escape Ventures - Orlando
Escape room
IRL
Brilliant, bros! A new top 5 for me, and easily the best I've played at this location. Unique, thematic, fun, immersive, light-hearted pure fun! Wide range of creative puzzles which vary in difficulty - quite a few creative takes and choices I'd never seen before. Great mix of cracking codes, locks and physical activity (but nothing physically demanding). Don't leave Orlando without trying this!
Christmas Crisis
The Escape Ventures - Winter Garden [prev. Escape Goat]

Adorable. The best Christmas game I've played. Very simple puzzles, but a good amount of them, and still makes you think a bit! The puzzles are easy and flowed well. This would be a brilliant first room for a newbie!
Cinema 7
Will To Escape - Orlando

Top notch! Perfect amount of tricky and spooky.
Clown Town
Intense Escape - Tampa Location

If things had been reset correctly, I'd give this a "like" because I had fun... But this is a better haunted house than an escape room - and if you think of it that way, you might love it! Sadly, there were 3 full puzzles of the game not reset correctly and one item actually broken. These included an unlocked door which opened into another one of their escape rooms (can I now add that one on Morty too?! π) and a lock which just wasn't anywhere to be found: we spent 10 minutes struggling with a 5-letter code because the puzzle was broken, but then when we needed the GM to give us the missing information, we discovered the lock wasn't anywhere to be found - we didn't even need the code in the end! (The broken puzzle required us to read stickers on a grid, but some stickers had fallen off - the GM told us after they will fix this). While I hate to leave a bad review for a game, the overall experience definitely detracted from the fun. This was much scarier and, despite the issues, more fun (definitely more puzzle-y) than Basement, which had no good puzzles. The puzzles in Clown Town were fine, nothing special, but no effort was expended on creating a plotline (who are we and why are we there... doing THAT? Why don't we just leave out of the door we came in?), and the "meta-rules" ("do this and the clown won't hurt you") is goofy fun but nonsensical. This is fine for a laugh but this does make it seem more like a 4th grade birthday party and less like an escape room. Intense Escape is best in DIE-ner where it's a good escape first with a goofy nonsensical add-on. For horror-clown puzzley fun, Horror Circus up the street at Game Over is a much better escape room... But also a lot less scary and a lot less "haunted house". I just may not be the audience...
Conundrum Museum

A LOT of fun for two people, but we needed some hints as we got closer to the end. This is my favorite type of game - loaded with locks, keys, and buttons. I preferred this over Magician's Study because of the sheer number of puzzles and their variety, but I do think Magician was more thematic. Storyteller remains on my list for now! Non-spoiler favorite puzzle: "Lovers Bridge"
Cryptid Crisis!
The Escape Company

There were some fun puzzles in this, but a lot was broken or poor quality, and the GM was oddly rude and bossy over the intercom for no reason (but I'm not sure she knew she was being rude, so benefit of the doubt!) . We were scolded for turning on the lights (...why is there a light switch then?), we were told to put something back where it was before (...isn't that part of reset?), and we were asked to "leave the room" after we finished (guess we can't linger for 30 seconds... Ok, got it!). Moreover, not everything was reset when we did the room (that explains why she asked us to reset another piece over the intercom, I guess!). This completely ruined the final puzzle (the lock was just open and the puzzle to get to the lock was left already solved from the prior group). We raised this and got no offer to replay something else or a better discount for a different room. Instead the GM said "I also don't understand this room - I keep telling them they need to fix this. This is why I don't recommend this room... " If your employees are openly discussing how bad a room is, it's time to take it off your website while you rework it. Tons of red herrings. We found out from the GM that they are leftovers from the previous iteration of the game so they just left those puzzles in... Which lead to nowhere.
Crypt Of The Vampire

This room was fantastic. Great vibes and set pieces, very funny/campy gags and voice acting - right up my alley! The final puzzle and ending was very satisfying. This was less chaotic and more straightforward than the Wizard room and a little easier, but not a beginner room. It's mostly linear, which can be a positive or negative depending on your style- I like both kinds to mix it up. (I preferred this room over Wizard's Tower - this was just more fun, but Wizard's had more of a wow factor due to its tech. I loved both and will be back for more!)
