Yellowstone Bandits Escape HouseYellowstone Bandits Escape HouseEscape roomOther IRLThis place was super fun. So many puzzles and great connecting pieces. “It made sense” which is a strong compliment in my opinion. I really enjoyed the non-pressure of time, and relaxing as I solved through puzzles. A great change up of pace, and the hot tub was the perfect end to each night. If you have thought about it, book it. You won’t be disappointed
Level 1: PurgatoryThe Slaughterhouse Escape RoomEscape roomIRLThis may be a long one. As a haunt, I can imagine this place is incredible! As an escape room, it falls so short. I first played years ago. It’s held up pretty well over all, as far as I could tell. Warning: You’re in the dark most of the time. Pretty consistent that puzzles are just made so much more difficult with the extreme lack of light. It aids the scare factor 100%. It kills the puzzle vibe. You get one flashlight later in the game. A huge relief, unless you have more than one player playing… It feels extremely linear, with the idea that a few scares can satisfy a bigger group. I felt like I just watched most of the time. They do use small red herrings. As well as an area that feels like it should be used once, but you need to go back to multiple times. As for puzzle play, at most three puzzles had pieces to find at one point, but the mostly linear play makes it feel like the puzzles are created for groups of 2-3, while the space and experience is designed for more. It really does start to feel like a haunt, with puzzles added. There’s very little discussion afterwards, as they expect you to play again. One of our group noted that it felt like they were pleased we failed. One last note: the white noise and game sounds much overtake any game guide hints. We had to ask to repeat them multiple times to understand what was communicated. Overall, I’m sure it’s an awesome haunt! It’s a terrible escape room.
