Storyteller's SecretBoxarooEscape roomIRLFirst room at Boxaroo and the theme was incredibly well-done. Fun but some of the prop pieces/special effects weren’t in great shape when we went and it caused the GM to have to tell us what the prop was supposed to do or say. Otherwise, a fun room with a cool premise!
Ghost LightMyssTic RoomsEscape roomIRLAn absolute gem of a room! Did it as two person and had a blast. As someone with a negative tolerance for scares, I was a little nervous but the story is not scary at all and a really lovely usage of the ghost story motif. The atmosphere and location of the room was top notch and there were some really unique puzzles and mechanics in the room. A really unique room that was so beautifully themed (highly recommend).
Conundrum MuseumBoxarooEscape roomIRLThis is not everyone’s favourite room at Boxaroo but it is mine and my brother’s! Out of all of Boxaroo’s rooms, I think this one flows the best. The puzzles were really varied and the set was really well done (as is the case for all Boxaroo rooms). A little on the easier side even with two people and could have used one more puzzle towards the end but otherwise a great room with some cool puzzles! Also, one of my absolute favourite GMs!
The U-BoatRed Fox EscapesEscape roomIRLThis is one of the most incredibly well-designed escape rooms I’ve ever experienced. The set, props, and special effects are incredible. There was a diversity of puzzles and it really was so unique. However, we were a team of 2 and unless you are an experienced escape room team, this one is really tough for a two person. There was a lot of going back and forth and a lot of information given that you need to sort through, so definitely for a four person group at a minimum if you’re first-timers. But an incredible room and there was a moment where I had to audibly *gasp* just due to the sheer quality of the special effects.
The HeistRed Fox EscapesEscape roomIRLOne of my absolute favourites here in Boston! A very common theme (heist) but RedFox elevates it with their incredible set design, varied puzzles (including one I hadn’t seen before), and well-flowing room. Only complaint is when we went, one of the puzzles had been written/marked in a way that made us think that was part of the puzzle and we spent 5 or 6 mins just trying to solve it using the markings. Only to find out that the markings were from past guests and meant nothing. But otherwise, a really fun room! We went as a group of two and found it very doable but a lot of the puzzles are more independent and can be solved simultaneously so may be easier with a bigger group.
