La Cerveseria [The Brewery]EnigmikEscape roomIRLWe liked but did not love this room as much as many other people seem to! We had 3 players and at the very beginning, the room bottlenecks with one very long, tedious puzzle where no one else can do anything in parallel. We unfortunately had some tech issues as well which meant that we often couldn’t tell if we had finished a part of a puzzle or not, so we kept getting kind of confused and frustrated. Overall the game is really original and cute, and once we finally got going with the tasks and got our rhythm we had a really good time.
Fortune Teller [prev. Madame Neptune's Voodoo Curse]Portland Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLA cute room with a really fun live actor. A very easy room, however. We finished in about half our allotted time with a group of a 3.
The Ritual RoomEscapism PortlandEscape roomIRLDecent room with some fun puzzles. One in particular felt somewhat novel and exciting. A LOT of lockboxes without any real connection to the puzzles though. There were multiple four-number combo locks that at any given time could have been used for a different puzzle, so if we found a code we’d have to try a bunch of different locks. It’s not immersive and it’s kind of sloppy. This is a pet peeve of mine in a room.
The Hacker of Silicon ValleyBreakout StudiosEscape roomIRLWe had a really great time in this Hacker room.
La Revolución De Los Murciélagos [The Revolution Of The Bats]The Darkest Room - Escape Room MadridEscape roomIRLCompletely dark/blind experience. We chose to do the normal/non-scary version and it was still quite intense for our group member with a fear of the dark, but we overall had a really good time. Great game master and immersion. The puzzles are fun and you need to use all of your senses and work together. One of the better fully dark rooms we have done!
The Toy BoxZscape GamesEscape roomIRLThis room was ok! It has some fun puzzles and a cute concept. Overall the room is in really poor shape and feels like it is falling apart. Could use some major upkeep; some of the broken elements impacted gameplay.
Dark AltarOmescape - San JoseEscape roomIRLI’ve done other Omescape rooms and have enjoyed them, but there was almost nothing enjoyable about this room unfortunately. In fact, this is probably one of our least favorite rooms we’ve ever done out of 50+ rooms. Some of the tech didn’t work well, the puzzles nearly all required leaps of logic, and the final puzzle was so frustrating that we had pretty much just stopped having fun. We are experienced escapers – we have never needed as many hints or nudges as we did in this room. The props and set looked fairly old and not in great shape. Laminated cards with info on it take you out of the immersive experience. Overall, a really disappointing experience and not worth what we paid.
The RelicRed Door Escape Room - EmeryvilleEscape roomIRLMultiple puzzles led us to keys or solutions we had already found just by searching the room, which meant we spent much of the time working on puzzles that went nowhere. Keys were just hidden around the room so anyone with even a small amount of escape room experience would be able to find them, since the first rule of escape rooms is search everywhere when you first get in. It was really disappointing from a puzzle standpoint, and we kept being confused since we thought we must be missing something. The game master disappeared for a large portion of the game, so when we asked “hey, I think this puzzle just leads us to this key we already found, can you confirm or is there something we are missing?” We were left for minutes at a time with no answer. This rooms costs the same as most other rooms with much better game play, and it’s also only 45 minutes. Bleh.
