Wish I would have waited on this room because  I assume Puzzle Effect bought this room from another escape room company that had recently closed and I had already played that room.

Sabotage AI Escape Protocol

This room was extremely frustrating to say the least. Get rid of the computer game and give players an additional flashlight (other than the walkie talkie) or 2 or 3. We spent so much time asking others for the light that it became a joke. I don’t know why escape games are so big on low light. I get that initially the life support systems and lights are down so it’s dark but once we fix that I should be able to see what I’m doing.

There is a “mini” game on the computer where they give you a 3x3 grid of pictures of the planets, with the instructions that you need to click on them in order from largest to smallest. We asked the ai but it said we needed to solve it on our own so we looked all over the room and found some planet sticker/magnates so we assumed that is what we needed but some of the stickers didn’t really look like the ones on screen so we wasted a lot of time there. Turns out those had nothing to do with the room, but in a different section of the computer game there was a picture of all of the planets to scale but no names and except for the few largest ones, the other planets were so small you couldn’t see what they looked like. Then on the other side of the ship there was a specific part on the screen you had to click the to see the names of all planets and their sizes in km without pictures. How were we supposed to know to go there and find that?

I was pretty excited when I found out there was an actual AI in the room; but you couldn’t talk to it or even talk to type your question, you had to type all of your questions. Once you entered it in, it took 30-45 seconds to get a response back and even after that amount of time the response was vague, not the answer to the question we asked, or just a refusal to answer. We asked the ai a few questions multiple times to re-read a previous response but it gave us a different response. On our way home, my wife asked if there were any puzzles and I couldn’t think of any where the answer wasn’t on something we found or given maybe 3 or 4 would classify as puzzles. There were riddles (what’s black and white and read all over?) and physical tasks (plug these thing in or grab that thing that’s out of reach) but no real puzzles that you would find in every other room we’ve ever done. 

Maybe we had a really off day, maybe we were fatigued from the other 2 rooms we did that day (here and another location in Tucson both escaped with plenty of time to spare; one of which we set the record for by ~15 minutes faster than the previous), or maybe this room was a little less well refined and a bit more ambitious than it should have been.
