Loot The LanesPier PressureEscape roomIRLIt's hard to put into words how good this game is. It's a true masterclass in escape room design. The puzzles, the set design and the theatrics of the whole experience were utter perfection. Would absolutely recommend to any escape room fan!
Pudding LaneCronologicEscape roomIRL— A Sure Fire Hit — We were super eager to try out Plymouth’s newest escape room when we first heard about it, and to say we were amazed is doing it an injustice. The game itself was so much fun. Cronologic have certainly impressed us. This game has easily secured a slot in our top five rooms of all time. And since Pudding Lane is the venue’s debut, we have high hopes for their future experiences (or past experiences given the time travel theming)! Our Games Host, James, was equally brilliant. Whilst we didn’t need any hints during our time in the room, he was clearly watching us throughout to make sure we were on the right track and having a good time. His love for escape rooms really shone through; it’s clearly a game made by enthusiasts. The immense amount of work he and the other owner Claire have put into building the room didn’t go unnoticed from us. The set design is truly fantastic, from the cobbles under our feet to the authentic brickwork in the walls - everything felt nice to touch and feel, something that James seems especially proud of. We certainly appreciated the level of attention to detail in the set design, and this goes for the whole game. You feel it from the moment you enter the venue to the moment you leave! Thank you for an awesome hour and we look forward to returning when your next experience is ready! :)
Roll Out the BarrelEscape PlanEscape roomIRLThis is a great room, with a good amount of non-linearity to it. We played this room as a group of two, and found ourselves working independently a fair amount (something we both enjoy). There are choking points in the puzzle flow, meaning working together was also necessary at times. The puzzles themselves were all brilliant with an emphasis on mechanical puzzles and things you can touch and play with rather than more modern RFID or sensors. There's one particular set piece which I could've played with for the full hour. Our host, Jango, was fantastic. Whilst he only needed to give us one clue, this came at a point which could've been incredibly frustrating and was perfectly timed. He clearly understands the game and his players well. Overall, this is a great game and is an easy recommendation - even if you're normally put off by the war theme like me :)
ModropheniaPier PressureEscape roomIRLThe game didn't particularly gel with me, I'm not entirely sure why - maybe I was fried from doing this and Loot The Lanes back to back, and maybe it was due to how unlinear it was. With that being said, the set design was awesome and fitted the theme perfectly. It was great to see how Pier Pressure have designed unique puzzles around these staple features of the 60s. It was a little difficult in places, and maybe a few leaps in logic were needed, but overall, it's still miles ahead of a lot of the escape rooms I've done, and is fully deserving of the heart I've given it.
