The Missing SeasonSteal and EscapeEscape roomIRLGreat set design and fun narration and banter from the game master. Puzzles had some cool mechanics though they were for the most part quite straightforward. We've done the mysterious stranger room before long ago from the same company and they seem to have retained their creative flair. Quite fun and novel. It felt different from other escape rooms, but not in a bad way. The best part was definitely our host, Manny.
DaVinci ChallengeLara’s Labyrinth - San Diego [prev. Quest Room]Escape roomIRLDid this room with 9 people, which felt like too many. I think with this many people it's hard to keep track of which clues have already been used and it's easy to miss entire puzzles. Ideal group size probably 4-6. You split up for the room in the beginning, so an even number is ideal. The atmosphere and decor were fun. There were some innovative puzzles, but it was also hard to hear any story voice overs and to hear hints in a big group. Would probably have enjoyed this much more with fewer people.
BeWitchedLara’s Labyrinth - San Diego [prev. Quest Room]Escape roomIRLBest production quality I've seen in an escape room. The puzzles were fairly straightforward, but the puzzles were secondary to the experience. Having a live actor respond to you felt like a very natural way to progress the plot and give hints.
Case '9360Out - Silver LakeEscape roomIRLFairly fun theme and story. Great set design and use of space. Spooky premise but played for laughs. 90s themed. Would not recommend for too many people (we exceeded the limit by putting 7 people in and it got a little crowded). I think having too many people also allows for more accidental sequence breaking and losing track of the plot. Puzzles were fairly straightforward, sometimes a little finicky. Overall would recommend for maybe 4ish people.
Y2K VirusThe Unlockables - PowayEscape roomIRLFun design and concept. Great atmosphere. Would be great for beginner players. We blew through the puzzles. A lot of similar types of locks. Wish there was another room.
Deja VuEscape EraEscape roomIRLI think expert mode just adds one difficult puzzle. Would rate this as a medium difficulty room. The room is fairly linear which allows for some sequence breaking, something I personally find unsatisfactory. Definitely their older room compared to Arcade. I think it was an easier room than Arcade too. The plot and atmosphere had a strong start but falls apart a little at the end. It was serviceable. Overall an okay room.
