Dragon Challenge: A Hero's Choice [prev. The Quest]
The Escape Ventures - Winter Garden [prev. Escape Goat]
Escape room
IRL
“The Quest” is a unique room, with an original storyline and many creative physical/mechanical puzzles! The game isn’t linear, which can provide a bit of a challenge if that doesn’t suit your play style, but it was manageable once the pattern/clues of the room were discovered. The GM was great and only provided a nudge when we were really stuck. Overall - a good room!
At The Hop Ice Cream Shoppe
Dare 2 Escape
Escape room
IRL
This is such a fantastic escape room, and a must try if you are visiting Dare 2 Escape! The experience was extraordinarily immersive, and the set design was some of the best I’ve ever seen. We were quite literally transported to a 50s/60s diner. The puzzles were hard at times, but definitely not impossible. While on the smaller side, the room provided a great challenge for our group. Not to mention, the music had us jamming the whole time! Highly recommend!
CSI: Suburban Serial Killer
The Escape Company
Escape room
IRL
“Suburban Serial Killer” was my first room at The Escape Company, and in my opinion, is their best experience. While the gameplay is fairly linear, the room was uniquely designed and transported us to a serial killer’s suburban hideaway. The GM was fantastic and we shared so many laughs. Truly made our experience an enjoyable one! There was some confusion as to what clues we needed to bring into each room. Thankfully, the GM guided us, but the gameplay and immersion seemed to halt when transitioning from room to room. The major downside was the A/C, or lack thereof - we were sweating in there!
Outlawed
The Escape Company
Escape room
IRL
While the first room in “Outlawed” provided a good physical challenge, the remaining spaces were a bit underwhelming, and at times, confusing. Many of the puzzles were dated and needed updating, which left us asking the GM to clarify many of the puzzles and clues. Our GM, Daniel, was fantastic and provided some comic relief during our experience.
Pandorum
The Escape Company
Escape room
IRL
I was really excited to try “Pandorum,” as it is billed as “the hardest room” in Orlando. However, we were left disappointed by our experience and felt like the space did not live up to all of the hype. As we arrived in the lobby, the staff tried to convince us “not” to try the room because it was “really hard.” We’re always up for a good challenge, so we insisted we wanted to try. Despite our plea and our booking for Pandorum, we were repeatedly asked to try another room, “Cryptid Crisis.” After a few more minutes of us insisting, we were led to the room. Before the game started, the GM confessed that they didn’t want us to play this room because it was hard for them to reset and hard for the GM to manage the gameplay. We were told many times that if we entered in codes wrong we would be penalized many minutes. There seemed to be significant puzzle and mechanical challenges in this space. We were told repeatedly that we could not “try” to solve puzzles a certain way. And many times, the tone used by the GM was not very kind. As it stands, I’m not sure the space is in a condition to be played. The only difficult thing about this room was navigating the “dos” and “don’ts”of solving their puzzles.
