Ripper

Incredibly designed room, not for the faint of heart. No one in our family particularly enjoys being scared so we chose the non-scary version, but just being there gave us goose bumps. Very good storyline, well-designed puzzles, excellent acting - great experience all around. Highly recommended, even if you're not into haunted houses.

This room is made by people who love escape rooms for people who love escape rooms. The build quality and atmosphere were second to none. This room has the potential to be wet-your-pants scary (ask the owners about that...) but I appreciate that they were able to adjust the terror factor down so the whole party could enjoy themselves. It was still spooky/tense, but not overwhelmingly so.

The Ripper experience and the team at Nocturne Adventures is absolutely amazing. After falling in love with Nevermore, we knew we needed to get back ASAP to play Ripper, and we are so glad we did! Terrifying from start to finish, this room had me jumping out of my skin right and left. SO many great jump scares! And the music and lighting feeds into the intensity of the urgency and fear. It’s amazing what your brain forgets to do when you’re constantly on edge, and they’ve accounted for this with an in room actor to help guide you should you become less and less clear headed. So while I wouldn’t say this is an “easy” or “hard” room, I would say it’s appropriately difficult given the circumstances. This room is a labor of love and it shows! From the set design, to the construction of the room and its layout being conducive to a cat and mouse style game. The cadavers, the blood, the grime and gore is all thought out- no unrealistic mannequins or ketchup blood, this very much feels like the pique of immersion. It’s a love letter to slasher horror and haunted houses all in one. My husband and I don’t usually have the stomachs for gore, but we put on our big girl pants, but I will warn that this room is very much an R rated experience, nudity, language, and violence is in plenty- do not bring your small children, it is not an environment you would want young impressionable minds in, trust me. All that said, I immediately texted a few people after completing this room, who love horror, and listed it as a must-do for them. I also want to make sure that people know that the set and special effects were top tier, but so were the puzzles. Every single one was clear, logical, sign posted, and satisfying to solve. I would definitely recommend this room to anyone brave enough to try it out!

“Ripper” was great. The scare-factor was comparable to Athens, which is a huge compliment. They have an R-rated version, which includes cursing and nudity. We chose the R-rated version. They did a fantastic job. The puzzles flowed. The acting was well-done. You may want to use the restroom beforehand if your bladder & GI tract may work against you.

Nocturne adventures is one of the most unique venues I’ve ever seen for an escape room company. Driving to the small town Hickory and walking down toward the basement to their property where their games are located was one of the most amazing things I’ve ever experienced in my life. Ripper was bloody fantastic it blew away every horror experience I’ve ever done. The attention to detail is so intentional and pristine. The immersive theater element with the multiple actors. The adrenaline from choosing the Rated R mode was so so so much fun. Our amazing actress Natalie delivered one of the most powerful performances I’ve seen in an escape room. I was so immersed that Natalie made it so real feeling and I teared up with how scared I was but also felt comfortable just shows how much the owners care. The puzzles and the flow was just PERFECT. Nicole and Tom are the most amazing and sweetest escape room owners I’ve ever met. Their charm and customer service and overall level of care they have for their guests was outstanding. The fact that they allow you to play the experience without a time limit was so special. They have created some of the most amazing games I’ve played and I’d replay them over and over again. I’m definitely a Nocturnal fan for life ❤️

I’m from Los Angeles, so my best friend and I, we made a dedicated trip out here to play these games, and my god, I had no idea what I was expecting, but it definitely set the tone and raised the bar in this community by a lot. Coming down a suburban road to literally someone’s home, to play a horror escape room that is built in their basement might freak some people out, but don’t let that deter you from coming. The owners, Nicole and Tom, are incredible; some of the most loving and professional owners I’ve ever met. We bonded with them immediately. Now … let’s get to this game: We did the scary version (Rated R), and let me tell you, it was scary as hell. This is half escape room, and half immersive horror theatre/haunt … They had us running, hiding, screaming, and on edge every single moment. From the gritty and well planned puzzles, to the gory design that truly feels like life or death, you won’t be disappointed as a horror lover. The Ripper is here and he’s out for blood. And you better not let him find you, or you’ll be next. Please go play this game, it is one of the BEST horror escape rooms I’ve ever played in my life. It’s worth the trek, worth the time, and you can tell that they put their entire heart into this place and it shows. They all deserve their flowers. Go go go go gooooo!! I mean it, GO!

My family and I have done over fifty escape rooms and unanimously placed this one in the top five. I love horror and we’re not easily scared, but this escape room had us genuinely shaking with adrenaline. The story was great and all the props were realistic and in perfect condition. The atmosphere was set perfectly and the game was probably the most immersive I’ve done. The staff was friendly and sweet (when they weren’t chasing us) and we enjoyed talking with them. Solid 10/10 from walking in to walking out.

100% horror theme! Will get your heart pumping and adrenaline rushing. Even with the scares, it is an amazing escape game with unique puzzles, live actors, and great host!

Nicole and Tom were so nice, I’ve done this escape room twice and both times it was totally worth it. The experience is scary and definitely would go a third time.

I booked it as rated R and not scary but the GM convinced us to try out scary. I only cried three times. I don’t like haunted houses, so I’m conflicted on how to review this. I’m glad we visited Nocturne, as the GMs are incredible people and built amazing sets. The other person trapped with you is an amazing actor. The puzzles were only difficult because my heart was pounding and I was terrified. It was a unique experience for me after 70+ completed rooms. But I will probably never do another scary room again.
