Rating: 3/5 - Decent for a small town room, felt very old-school 2015 era I enjoyed it, especially considering it's the only company in the area. There are no major issues but it's a pretty basic room that doesn't do anything innovative. The set looked good enough and it was more than a single room. It is mostly padlock/lockbox/keypad based, with only a couple electronic triggers (very Gen 1). There were a decent variety of puzzles, enthusiasts should have no problems solving them, it might be on the difficult side for beginners. Our main hold ups were due to search fails. My only nitpick is that some of the puzzles were ambiguous, there is a bit too much information provided before you need it and sometimes it's hard to tell when you have enough information or if you need to keep searching. Though the GM was friendly and helpful when needed. I liked The Cabin a bit more than Corrupt & Convicted but both rooms are decent. The Cabin set felt more immersive since it was decorated from floor to ceiling and incorporated things from Columbus, the room felt newer. However, it's a tad more difficult and I think I enjoyed the puzzles a bit more in Corrupt & Convicted. We played as a team of 3 enthusiasts and it felt right, I would not do more than 4 players. There are only 3 hints allowed but the GM may provide additional nudges.

We drove from Indianapolis to play this and Convicted. For the summer cost of $20 each and the drive, we thought this was worth the trip. I personally preferred Convicted if you’re reading reviews to find out which of the three to complete. This one had a couple funny moments (the big red button when you first walk in), a couple frustrating points where the room didn’t make it clear what was the next step, and a few standout puzzles that I thought were really interesting (the 5x5 puzzle was one I really enjoyed). Overall, I had fun with both rooms and would recommend checking it out if you’re in the area.

Gameplay

Very fun, but couple points in the game where we weren’t sure where to go next or how to use a clue, but at least one of those times, once we realized what we needed to do, it was hinted at.

Atmosphere

A few funny moments in this game that had us cracking up.

Customer service

Grace, our GM, was great!

Story

Story was fun, although a bigger “wow” moment at the end would have pushed this up to a love.

Difficulty

Medium

Our group of 3 enthusiasts finished with 20 minutes left, but there were a couple points where we were really just spinning our wheels unclear what to do next, as we felt we’d used all the clues but there were still items left locked.

Game tech

Mechanical

Very lock heavy.

Ideal number of players

4

We played with 3 and that was a good number! Nothing too linear but 1-2 people working on a puzzle at a time was enough.

Probably would be pretty fun for kids!

Accessibility

For color blindness - there is one puzzle that uses colors. For vision impairment - the 5x5 puzzle was kind of hard to see for me with my contacts in.

Easy to find location

Yes

Parking

Easy

We went on July 4th and easily found street parking directly across the street.
