An old, but once-charming stage where washed-up magicians went to put on their last show in hopes of rekindling their popularity. Many walked through its doors, desperately seeking the approval of audiences. Then came the Professor, his feats were unimaginable, his illusions were unexplainable, but little did we know that he was using the theatre as his testing grounds to perfect his powers gained from the relics. One of those relics must remain hidden somewhere inside. Can you help us recover the relic hidden within the Majestic Theatre?

In Vancouver for a bit and couldn't resist doing the highest TERPECA rated room in the area. We read that this was very busy for a team of two but decided to try anyway. And we finished the room! With a steady bit of assistance from our GM, thankfully. Not super high tech but great ambience and linear flow. We loved the theme and puzzles!

I would rate this room a 4/5 (ck out my bio page for my rating system). The set design and theme deserve 1 pt, average. The real 'magic' was in the puzzles which I would give 1.5 pts! There was a variety of puzzle types and they all incorporated the theme quite well. A few of the puzzles were time-suckers (you figure them out quickly but completing them takes more than a reasonable amount of time) so because of this, I think this room should have a 60m time limit rather than 45m. I give my experience in this room a 1.5. I really did enjoy it mainly because of the puzzle experience (even with the time-suckers!). I hadn't seen many of the puzzles before and loved the variety. It was a pretty linear type escape experience which I prefer. Another thing I liked about this room (and business, as all the rooms have this) was that they play a distinctive sound when you complete a puzzle. Most of the rooms I have done don't have this and it's sometimes difficult to know if you actually solved a puzzle. In addition, they were judicious with their hints (we told them to go light on the hints) and played a separate sound when these were on the screen so we knew when to look. The staff was fun and helpful! My only real complaint is the pictures. I do like the polaroid idea but there should also be online availability of the pictures as well so you don't have to take a pic of the pic when you want to share!

Reviewing the Magic and Curiosity shop games together. Both games have strong opening sets and far lesser impressive spaces after. Both are 45 minutes and you need to move swiftly to escape. Both games have high-consequence puzzles that can be time-consuming; solving these right the first time could make or break your escape. Both games have excellent, on-theme puzzles, which is where Find & Seek thrives. These are pretty challenging games. The Magic game is far more linear and easier, with some nice reveals early on. In general, the puzzles are solved in the room they have progressed into. The Curiosity Shop is more challenging and non-linear. Teams will be moving between the rooms back and forth more in this game. The puzzles were frantic with a rapid pace, similar to Undercooked at Omescape. There are some larger, tactile pieces that are very fun the play with. Overall, both of these games are good if you are into intense puzzling. Be ready to ask for hints if it feels like you are slowing down.

Two puzzles can happen simultaneously the whole time without overlapping so two groups can work at once which is good for big groups. They gave two notepads to write things down which were very helpful for solving the puzzles!

With two people they allowed five extra minutes which was needed! 45 minutes causes you to move very quickly. Overall good game, not too difficult, not to simple.

This room had potential but as soon as we came to the FIRST exhaustingly long puzzle (a logic problem that didn’t fit the theme and took us almost 15 min to solve) we knew there was no way we’d succeed in this 45 min room. I’m really opposed to rooms that are under the standard 1-hr minimum but then on top of that, give you time-sucking puzzles that feel like a chore to solve. This is definitely an hour room with only a 45 min timer. It’s setting paying customers up for disappointment. We paid over $110 for this experience and we left feeling frustrated and ripped off. We haven’t played hundreds of escape rooms like others we know, but we’ve played over 30 (escaped all but 3) and only a very few of those were 45 min escape rooms. Please change this scammy business model.

Gameplay

Did not flow well and waaaay too many time sucking puzzles that felt like a chore

Atmosphere

There were some things I really liked with the set of this room. But a couple of the puzzles should have never been used in there. Not on theme and a time suck in an already too-short time limit

Customer service

The GM was fine, no one was in character or anything, but still friendly

Particularly interesting or different

No

There were a couple things that I hadn’t seen before as a way to hide objects. Probably my fave aspect of this frustrating experience

Story

Not memorable at all for me. The only thing memorable is the negative and stressful experience

Difficulty

Hard

There are two reasons this room was hard for us. The time sucking puzzles (one was a really annoying and long logic problem that didn’t fit the theme) and the very non industry standard 45 min, which sets people up for failure

Room was very fun and logical, escaped with 2 ppl and with ~5min left. I would recommend players to not be deterred by the reviews! This game has a good amount of puzzles but most are linear and not complicated. In my opinion this room is actually better with less people, as most puzzle would not require more than 1 person to solve (and might even get messy if multiple people are trying to solve at the same time). There was one puzzle that actually requires a good 5-10min but in our opinion it’s unnecessarily long. It’s the same logic solving multiple times… and quickly becomes a drag. Also in this puzzle one of the symbols doesn’t even match exactly! This creates a lot of confusion when we were solving, we gave the feedback to the game master but it sounds like they knew the issue but just doesn’t bother to fix it. Was a bit disappointed. However, despite some issues, overall this is a great game that is perfect for <4 people. Story line was also creative, and some puzzle was pretty novel.

Did this room with friends, was really fun and the atmosphere was so cool. There were so many different puzzles I’ve never seen before that weren’t just lock and key! I recommend this place to everyone!

Because you can do multiple puzzles at once, it’s good for larger groups. We had 4 very experienced puzzlers, and it wasn’t very hard for us at all. All of the clues are pretty straightforward, but some of them are time wasters. I did feel the GM rushed us a bit because the previous team ran late and the next group was waiting outside, even though we finished well within the allotted 45 minutes. I would do a different room at this location. You don’t have to pay for parking underneath the mall for the first two hours of parking there, which is nice.

Gameplay

Good for larger groups because there are multiple puzzles that people can work on at the same time.

Atmosphere

The atmosphere is good. They’re building another puzzle room, and you could hear a lot of construction noises. They also had the music a little loud.

Customer service

I thought the GM gave us too many free clues. It felt like they were rushing us out because the previous group ran late. But it’s not really our fault, and we were definitely moving along, so I wish they gave us more time to figure it out on our own. She was friendly though.

Difficulty

Easy

All of the puzzles made sense, which I liked. It wasn’t a very difficult room.
