While shopping at a Sunday market, you meet an elderly widow trying to sell her husband’s belongings. You take interest in a strange-looking purple crystal. She tells you it could be quite valuable and belonged to Parker- her late husband. He had no education but interestingly, without any experience, was offered a highly-paid job in a remote mine. Overjoyed, he gladly took the opportunity but one day, some years later, he returned from the mine with the purple crystal and announced that he had quit his job. He seemed distant, withdrawn, and refused to say why. On his death bed, he asked her to promise she would return the crystal to the mine however he died before she could ask him why. The widow insists you take it and think it could be valuable you decide to buy it. Can you perhaps discover for yourself where this mine is and if it contains any more precious crystals….

Decent room, lots of cool puzzles. We managed to escape 2 mins after the allotted time. We should have asked for a clue in the middle room, we had completed the puzzle correctly but because it was mechanical and not aligned correctly. We struggled in the last room with the sound. We knew before doing it this would be a problem from other reviews. There was only two of us and we’ve done lots of rooms. It was hard but we both enjoyed it. Would recommend for experienced teams.

The story was cool, and so were some of the elements of the room design. However, after the first bit (which was good), it got a bit boring. One of the puzzles was a bit fiddly and ate up time long after having figured it out.

This room has some very unique mechanical gameplay elements, which we have never seen before. However, apart from these couple unique elements, the rest of the gameplay was disappointing. Some puzzles were frustrating because they were poorly implemented, such as puzzles that were difficult to hear. Whilst, the novelty of a couple of unique puzzles and elements were impressive, regrettably this did not make up for the rest of the game.

The first section leading to the second was one of the coolest things I'd ever experienced in an escape room. We struggled with pieces in the second section and then the last reveal for the finale was cleverly done. High tech!

An older tech-heavy escape room with no padlocks that was pretty fun and challenging. There were some really cool things about this room that impressed us, including hi-tech special effects and abstract puzzle ideas. But some of the puzzles were also quite finicky because they're so tech-reliant, and there was a frustrating one that required very good hearing. Apart from that, just some minor lack of attention issues such as typos and loud music (see frustrating puzzle above).

This is a very nicely designed from and what was expected from each puzzle was given. There are a lot of cool mechanical puzzles all over the room however, there was one particular puzzle which was confusing which led to a massive time sink but other than that the room is very cool and the twist at the end is unexpected

This game had amazing production value and props that we have never seen before. I feel the story flowed well and I enjoyed the ending. The room had fully tech puzzles. Some of the tech puzzles were touchy which resulted in the puzzles being very time consuming.

This is a hard room to review as I truly loved some major elements whilst simultaneously finding some parts of the experience challenging to enjoy. Aesthetics, props and puzzle novelties within ‘The Lost Mine’ are exciting to experience, but the puzzle sequence was more of a drip than a cohesive, coherent flow. Mission make incredibly immersive and thematically-appropriate puzzles now that don’t ruin immersion, I’d love to see them keep the props but redo the puzzles and the flow so they match the incredibly high bar they set with ‘Trapped’ and ‘Unstoppable’ — two of my all-time favourite escape experiences. I can confidently recommend Mission Room as their other rooms are impressive, but for ‘The Lost Mine’, don’t shy away from asking for hints if you’re stuck. You’ll likely need them to move through the puzzles.

Gameplay

It was fun and hands-on, but the puzzles were HARD and finicky. Tech for tech’s sake can come at the cost of playability, which was the case for one of the puzzles in particular. This in turn makes for a frustrating time sink to move on.

Atmosphere

Atmosphere was amazing — so incredible with a slew of unique props and set designs.
