The Ghost Of MentryvilleArcane Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLThis room was amazing. The guide was very informative and immersive. He was gentle with the way he’d lead us while letting us figure out how to do the puzzles. I’d recommend this room if you want to feel like you’re in a story and while solving puzzles. This is not a timed room, so you have to want to do this if you’re interested in good story telling. I’d recommend this. It was also a refreshing change from the usual escape rooms. A unique experience.
The Hot Dog HeistTrapology BostonEscape roomIRLThis room was so cute and so fun! We were able to complete it with two people with only a couple minutes to spare. We did not require hints to solve the puzzles, so it’s doable with just 2 people. However, I would definitely consider going with 3 or 4, mostly because we were speed-crawling around and screaming across the rooms to each other. It would be WAY easier to not do it with just 2. For us, 2 worked out nicely, plus we got some fun physical workout it, so it was a positive! It’s really up to the group and their experience level! The staff was so nice. We added this one on as a walk in after completing a different one at this establishment. I appreciate the staff’s honesty when we seemed skeptical of doing it with two people. They’re helpful and super respectful! We are looking forward to doing the rest of the rooms when we have time to return! Bonus points for not making yet another common, overdone “heist” theme. 👏🏻 love the creativity.
The LibraryEscape Room Concord NHEscape roomIRLSo good! We drove over an hour for this themed room. We really enjoyed it. Loved the clear effort and passion that was put in the room. Every puzzle made sense, even if some required more thinking than others. We were really invested in the story, too. It’s definitely doable with 2 people. I’d say this was medium for 2 but probably easy with 4 people. We ended up doing dragon’s chamber right after this, which is significantly harder. This room was a solid warm-up room when going into the next one. Establishment was clean, staff was super nice, and we can’t wait to come back here to do all the other rooms. 100/100
The Dragon's ChamberEscape Room Concord NHEscape roomIRLDespite not making the time, the replay-ability element was very unique. The set design alone is a good reason to come back, and there’s the added draw of having a longer experience with it. With just two people, it felt like it flowed well for us. The puzzles seemed very logical (even if we struggled at times, that seemed to be on us and Less so on them). This room is designed to be a *challenge*. I would not recommend this to groups that have only been to a few escape rooms. It was worth the challenge for us, and ultimately highly recommend for enthusiasts who get a high from solving (and succeeding) difficult puzzles. It was an enjoyable day for us at this establishment, and we plan on returning to complete the rest of the rooms they have. The staff was super nice and really added to the experience as a whole. This was quite possibly one of my favorite rooms, which is really saying something considering it was a loss and we still absolutely loved it. 100/100
Orient ExpressArchitect Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLThis room was so well done and creatively put together! I love that the storyline made sense and how everything fit together the way it was supposed to. The room was memorable because the puzzles all linked together naturally and anytime you solve something, it felt very good to figure it out. I’d recommend this room and this establishment as a whole.
A Pirate's CurseEscapology - NorthridgeEscape roomIRLGood pirate room. Puzzles often felt satisfying to complete. The hint system needs improvement. There was just a delay in the hints, meaning the stuff written on the screen were unhelpful because we already did the part it thinks we’re stuck on. The hint system problem is just an Escapology thing - not something I see anywhere else. I’d say this is a good room overall despite the annoying hint system. It wasn’t super hard, but sometimes it’s good to sprinkle in some more easy going rooms to balance out more challenging escape rooms. The one big issue I have is when there’s cultural assumptions made. Like perhaps someone who didn’t grow up knowing pirate slang. All escape rooms should be able to be self contained without needing any prior cultural knowledge. This is a positive review with just a bit of reflection on how it can be improved.
Bonnie and Clyde's Great GetawayArchitect Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLIt was decent room but not as good as some of their other ones. Mostly search and find, actual puzzle part was not much of a puzzle.
Merlin's VisionEscape The PikeEscape roomIRLStaff was amazing and definitely tried to help. Sadly, don’t love the story. Was excited to do a Merlin theme and it felt like Merlin and the story was shoe horned in. A lot of puzzles didn’t feel satisfying to complete.
Batman™: The Dark Knight ChallengeEscapology - NorthridgeEscape roomIRLIt was good, but one puzzle’s execution needs to be more obvious. When the puzzle itself is complete and we don’t know what to do with the answer to the puzzle, that’s a problem. The overall story was good and all the rest of the puzzles were good. It was linear, and there were some unique things in there.
