Black DragonEscape Room LAEscape roomIRLDid this right after Pyramid which we also enjoyed. But this by far was the best theme of an escape room that we've ever played before and hands down one of the funnest and unique. Things just flowed (although we did get tripped on some requiring a few hints). The way they incorporated hints (and even started the game) was also unique. Thoroughly enjoyed. Definitely worth the trip and would recommend. Escaped. Doable with a crew of no less than 3.
Special Ops: Mysterious MarketThe Escape Game - Los AngelesEscape roomIRLThis had remained on my list to-do for a while since these rooms are generally public and we wanted to keep it private for our crew of 2. We eventually planned/played one of the last games scheduled for the night in order to achieve this. 1st room went above and beyond expectations. Ambience was great and some of the puzzles were quite fun to solve. Some were a bit farfetched although maybe it was due to our brains at that late during the evening. One of the parts messed up a bit and we had to get a spare during the game to move forward. The 2nd room was not as straight forward to us and some of them went right over our heads. One of the puzzles involved utilizing a computer and I just so happened to guess and it worked (wasn't very intuitive to me although I felt I was on the right track sortve). In total, i think we managed to escape using 5 clues. Not our greatest feat, but was fun overall. Would recommend. We escaped with our group of 2, but maybe 3-4 brains would be better.
Houdini60Out - Silver LakeEscape roomIRLHmm, it was ok. I think, perhaps back in the day, it would have been better. I second the previous reviewer in that the game has seen better days. The wear and tear is visible and needs an upgrade if it would be continued to be promoted. One of the rooms was warm and I we did played in the evening (can't imagine what it would be like during the day). And, our crew was scrambling to figure out the next puzzle to get our member out of that sauna. Unfortunately the puzzle to get them out was pretty scuffed and illegible. We managed to finish the game witb 25 min to spare. As I'm typing this, I also realized we weren't offered a picture. Every escape room we did to-date had offered us a photo...just found it odd as I'm typing this.
The PyramidEscape Room LAEscape roomIRLWas planning on playing all three rooms here but unfortunately Atlantis was booked out :(. Pyramid was very immersive and the theme was great. The puzzles were unique however so.e required a bit more brain power than I could muster, but fortunately the other memners in the crew picked up for my slack. This was our first game at Escape Room LA. The way they handled the hints for us was unique and creative. We really appreciated this method which makes it more immersive. This is their most difficult and ultimately, we managed to escape with 17 seconds remaining with a crew of 3!
The DepthsThe Escape Game - Los AngelesEscape roomIRLWe decided to play two games here, special ops and depths. Started with the latter. Was an overall fun theme and in retrospect could have performed better. The ambience was great, especially the 1st room. We started fast and defeating puzzle after puzzle but got stumped midway on a puzzle that was not as intuitive as we would hope. In the 2nd room, some of the puzzles did not flow in sequence and stumped us more. Had to ask for at least 7 hints, kind of bummed us out for a 1st game lol. Overall, theme was great, the rooms were small with minimal airflow, and many but not all puzzles were intuitive (some didnt flow sequentially). Escaped with minutes to spare with crew of 2. Would recommend at least 3 brains.
