漆黒の悟り [Shadow Zen]Studio Escape Daikoku-choEscape roomIRLWhat an incredibly beautiful, creative, surprising, and super fun experience! I had high expectations for Shadow Zen after playing all of Studio Escape’s other brilliant games, but it still blew me away. The theming and use of tech (concealed and otherwise) were simply flawless, and each puzzle flowed seamlessly into the next and in line with the overall narrative. My only complaint is that I wish it were longer and more challenging for enthusiasts. Our team of 4 tried our best to go slow and experience every moment together, yet still finished with 15 minutes to spare. So my recommendation is to hang around, explore, and immerse yourself in the world of Shadow Zen for as long as you can, because it’s absolutely worth it!
Mr Pepper’s Toy ShopThe Cipher Room St PetersEscape roomIRLAnother absolutely incredible experience at The Cipher Room. The theming and atmosphere were expertly crafted, with exquisite props and clever/unique puzzles. There's actually quite a lot of tech but it's all so well-hidden that it doesn't affect the immersion. No live actors but multiple jump scares to keep you on your toes. There were so many instances where we were left in awe of the design and revelations. And the ending was once again a jaw-dropper. All the rooms we've done at here have been mindblowingly fun for the whole family. If there's one escape room establishment to recommend in Sydney (or perhaps all of Australia) it would invariably be Cipher.
La RébellionThe Cipher Room St PetersEscape roomIRLAnother incredible room by Cipher. Simply on a different level in terms of attention to detail and immersion compared to most of the other escape rooms we've done. Some escape rooms are just a bunch of random puzzles tossed into a room or two. All of La Rebellion's puzzles make sense and flow seamlessly from start to finish while remaining true to the theme. Most of the puzzles are not overly difficult, but there are loads of puzzles to do, and they're highly varied and fun. A cracker of an ending too. Loved every minute of it!
Sweethearts Ice Cream ParlourThe Cool SpaceEscape roomIRLAbsolutely adored this room! With gorgeous theming and design, blending cool puzzles, sweet theatrics, and a whole lot of heart (all puns intended), Sweethearts is a truly delightful experience. You can really see and feel the care, effort, and attention to detail that went into its creation, with the main emphasis being "fun". It's precisely the kind of room that made me fall in love with escape rooms in the first place.
女王と国のために [For Queen & Country]Studio Escape NipponbashiEscape roomIRLOur second game at Studio Escape is one of the most impressive escape rooms we’ve ever played! Really strong story, creative puzzles that make perfect sense in the well-utilised space, and mindblowing tech and special effects. Super fun experience with laugh-out-loud jokes and cinematic aesthetics. Deserves all the praise!
ExtractionThe Curium ExperienceEscape roomIRLWhat an incredible experience! Unlike anything we’ve done before and easily the biggest space of any room we’ve tried in Australia. Constantly on the move, lots of physical activity, plenty of dexterity puzzles, insanely high tech, and most of all, tons of fun!
Area 1: The PortalProject Immersive Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLTrue to its name, Project Immersive is one of the most immersive escape room experiences we've had to date! The fun starts even before to enter the building, and the immersion stays in tact all the way to the end. The games here, built inside a massive warehouse, have the benefit of ample space and existing infrastructure, adding to the realism and atmosphere. The Portal was an otherworldly experience with gorgeous aesthetics, clever tech, movie set props (in some cases literally), and varied puzzles that all make sense in the space and story. Quite a few unique ideas, including one in particular that we found super cool. Reminded me of Earthrise One in Melbourne, one of my favourites.
Area 1: Nuclear EnrichmentProject Immersive Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLWe jumped into Nuclear Enrichment immediately after The Portal! Though they share some similar vibes and equally impressive aesthetics, the two games are very different. I would say The Portal was more story-driven, while Nuclear Enrichment featured more puzzles and required a more traditional puzzle-solving mentality. Both are super immersive and fun, and I would recommend doing both to get the best of both worlds.
SeanceThe Cool SpaceEscape roomIRLWhat a truly unique and fun experience. We had some reservations about the whole game taking place in a single room where you remain seated the whole time, but the designers ingeniously kept the game engaging, atmospheric and immersive with a cool storyline, varied puzzles that fit flow and fit the theme, and some well-timed scares that my kids (11 and 12) had no problems with. Definitely a worthwhile experience for newbies and enthusiasts alike. Can’t wait for their new room!
IntrudersMission Escape George StEscape roomIRLHands down one of the most incredible in-person experiences I've ever had in any format or medium! Amazing special effects plus ingenious lighting and sound design combine to deliver an immersive masterpiece that truly makes you feel like you are in a real-life horror movie. More of an experience than a traditional escape room, though there were still good puzzles to solve. Yes, it is indeed super scary, but in a really safe and fun way. Can't recommend it highly enough.
