20,000 Leagues Under the SeaNovel EscapeEscape roomIRLGood puzzles. There were two of us, and we did great. So, if you’re worried about a small group, don’t be. I enjoyed the theme and story. Our game host, Skyler, was fantastic. We had the option to get unprompted nudges, and we passed on those, electing to only get hints when we asked, which was maybe twice? It had been a few months since we had done a room, and this was a great one to get back into it with. Looking forward to the two new rooms coming soonish. Also, I love that it was private and affordable.
The U-BoatRed Fox EscapesEscape roomIRLOne of the best rooms we’ve ever done! Great puzzles. A couple of big surprises. Love that for some things, they give you 2 of something, so you aren’t crowding around 1 thing. Good for a group of four escape room addicts. Would definitely be a challenge for newer escape room fans. They said they recommend doing their other rooms and working up to this one.
The DepthsThe Escape Game - AustinEscape roomIRLLots of fun. Good variety of puzzle types. Enjoyed the interactive, immersive portions. The end was a lot of fun. It involved a lot of shouting to each other and was comical.
Baker Street MysteryEscape Hour AustinEscape roomPop upVery enjoyable puzzle. Maybe one or two things that we probably wouldn’t have gotten without a hint. Otherwise, good puzzles and mechanics. Our host, Leah, was very nice and helpful. After reading that it’s the worst room there, I’m very excited to come back to try others. The Crypt was on my wishlist, but the timing didn’t work for us today.
The Great HeistEscapomaniaEscape roomIRLWell-designed room for a rainy day at the beach. Good puzzles. Many types I hadn’t seen before. The flow was nice. Fairly linear, but we were able to split up and work on multiple things most of the time.
WonderlandEscapomaniaEscape roomIRLLiked the theme. Alice in Wonderland has so much crazy stuff to pull from. This had a good mix of puzzle types. There were two of us and we did fine. The puzzles weren’t overly linear, so we could work separately until we got stuck, then swap puzzles or help each other out. Downside: we were hoping to escape the heat, but it was hot inside. We might have stayed to do another room if it hadn’t been so hot in there.
Pieces Of EightCaptive Escape Rooms - MidtownEscape roomIRLFun room. Flowed well. At one point we did have to wait for one person to work on a puzzle that could really only be done by one person. The rest of us didn’t have much to do, except be distracting. Not too challenging. Light was pretty low. The GMs were great, but they probably need more than 2 people staffing. Nobody was around when we finished the room. He came out of another room after a minute and stopped our timer. Otherwise we would have had no idea how long we were in there. Happy to have found this place. Will return.
Cartel CrackdownPanIQ Room - AustinEscape roomIRLWe were shocked when the host came in with 20 minutes left to tell us we escaped. Was it too easy? At the very least, it should be clear that you solved it when you solved it.
13 DoorsCaptive Escape Rooms - DowntownEscape roomIRLLiked the door element. Played a little too easy for our experienced group of 4. Enjoyed that it wasn’t too linear at the beginning. We were able to split things up early pretty well. But then everyone came together at the end for the final solves. The narrative is barely memorable. There were some interesting twists that I have never seen employed, however. Those were clever. We enjoyed it overall.
Mad Scientist’s LabEscapomaniaEscape roomIRLA little too linear for my taste. Puzzles were good. Almost no lock-and-key puzzles.
