The Body ShopRed Fox EscapesEscape roomIRLI’d say this is one of the best rooms we’ve done in the Boston area. We are repeat customers of Red Fox and this room did not disappoint. The theme was immersive and clever, and among the more unique plots we’ve played. The best thing about this room is the sheer number of puzzles available and relatively non-linear gameplay which kept our trio busy the entire time. We also appreciate the adaptive difficulty feature, which is a super smart way to design an escape room. THANK YOU, Liliana for the great customer service and for allowing us to do the entire room and unlocking all of the puzzles despite our small group size. We normally do not like hints either, but the couple clues given were well timed and just the right amount of nudge so we could finish. As a former Girl Scout I’m not sure how to feel about the gore in the room, but it’s not too horrible unless you are naturally squeamish from fake blood. We are also not a fan of rooms with lots of manual locks, but the handful of locks in this room were well marked and intuitive so you didn’t have to run around putting the key or 4-digit code into every lock hanging in the room. Overall, a great room and a must-do while in Boston!

Our family of four finished in less than 35 minutes so I’d say it’s more of a medium difficulty, not hard. Lots of great puzzles, good variety. Definitely recommend trying this if you’re in the San Diego area!
Project MinotaurQuest Room - HollywoodEscape roomIRLFantastic experience - I was hesitant to book it because my usual group (husband and kids) typically shies away from scary/horror rooms, but I brought a group of high school interns who really wanted to try it. My plans to cower in the corner and just watch them do the room were a totally unrealistic expectation because of the completely immersive nature, and I’m so glad that I participated! I give a full accounting of our experience in my review of the details. This is a must-do room!
Ink & AshesExodus Escape RoomEscape roomIRLImmersive, challenging, very story-driven…what’s not to like? This is one of the best rooms we’ve done in terms of having a great story, atmosphere, and lots of puzzles. There was a good variety of puzzles and a good flow, with the puzzles connecting to and moving the story forward. Was told that this was their hardest room - I would say it would probably be hard for a team of beginners to escape, so better for experienced escapers.
Arcadia Escape on 13thEscape roomIRLCute room, but way too easy for four experienced escapists. The skeleton for a great room is there (and fun theme/plot) - it just needs more/multi-layered puzzles or even adaptive difficulty modules that can be opened/added if a group processes quickly through the initial puzzles. The linear nature of the room meant that even with the teamwork opportunities there were a lot of times a couple of us were standing around waiting for the other two to solve the puzzle that would let us advance. We did enjoy this room, but it ended too quickly so left us wanting more.
The Swamp ThingMonster Quest Escape RoomEscape roomIRLIt’s only been open a year, so I’m sure this will become a favorite escape company in the Las Vegas area. Impressive production value and an off-the-charts GM contributed to a fun experience even though we were frustrated by one of the puzzles. I’d say this is a medium difficulty room that is tight quarters for more than 5 people. “Rewards” at the end were a clever bonus that surprised and delighted us. We can’t wait to try the other rooms!
Jewel of the SeaIntrepid Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLThis was a fantastic room - the only thing that could make it better is if it lasted longer! The set design and little details were spot on, and there was a nice mix of mechanical/physical, observational, logic and actual puzzles. We love rooms that are non-linear, which allows everyone to work on something at the same time, but it also means that we kind of blew through the first set of challenges and finished the room pretty quickly. GM was friendly and funny - we LOVED the intro/opening that Intrepid uses for all their games, which is one of the most clever and immersive we’ve ever experienced. Overall I think these rooms are very well done, and would look forward to returning if they ever open a hard/difficult room.
Big Brain Labs60Out - HollywoodEscape roomIRLThis was a fantastic new game with a unique format that did not disappoint! Grant was a great GM and even spent a lot of extra time giving us insight into the design and development, which as escape room enthusiasts, we loved! His impromptu narration in response to our group’s activities were superb, hilarious, and added greatly to our enjoyment of the game. The production value is (as with most 60 Out rooms) off the charts and is super fun, engaging, and has great lighting and sound feedback as you complete puzzles and progress through the room. The puzzle difficulty felt appropriate for a medium-level room - they leaned a little heavy on ones needing hand-eye coordination and reflexes but we did enjoy some logic, math, and observational puzzle varieties. Overall a fun experience, made great by a passionate designer and GM - worth the time, price and wait.
Legend of The YetiThe Escape Game - Las Vegas Area 15Escape roomIRLDon’t be put off by the low number of reviews - this location has only been open for a few weeks (12/12 opening), and has a great assortment of TEG offerings. The Legend of the Yeti is one of the best TEG rooms we’ve done - we usually like their games for the variety of puzzles, immersive production value, and good game flow, and the Yeti did not disappoint. Lots of fun elements in this room - as experienced escapists we rarely see puzzles or environmental details that surprise/delight us, and I almost think this room will ruin future rooms for less experienced groups. My biggest complaint with TEG is their stubborn refusal to make their rooms all private. Most companies have moved to this practice, and while okay for beginners, having to share a room is terrible for experienced teams. We were fortunate to have a private experience for this room, and I would say if there were 4 other people in there with us, it would have ruined it. A) because 2 of the 3 spaces were too tight for more than 4-5 people to move around in and work, and B) it’s a LINEAR game so what purpose would extra people serve except to just get in the way?
Prison HeistEscape Games PDXEscape roomIRLHad a fun time escaping from the Prison Heist room. Several interesting and clever puzzles that were different and unique - a good mix of tasks that required logic/math, words, physical dexterity, and observation. The set and production value was pretty good with some tech, but most of the locks were 1st gen and required physical keys. Our family of four likes rooms that are non-linear so that we can all work on several puzzles at once - this room was good for that except there just weren’t enough puzzles to keep us all busy. We escaped with over 25 minutes left so I’d rate this a room on the easier side, and I wouldn’t bring more than four people because of space and not enough to do. This would have been a better room if there were only two of us. I’m rating this 3-stars for the room, but an extra star for the great service when we checked in and from our GM Jax, who was friendly and helpful though we didn’t need any hints. She gave us a bounce back coupon for getting out with over 20 min left, which we always think is a nice way to encourage repeat business.
