The Candy ShoppePuzzleConnect Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLDon't let the strip mall location fool you! Excellent fit and finish to this superb room. The owners clearly show their love of escape rooms as so many details have been considered in this very polished experience.
Honeymoon SuiteNiagara EscapementEscape roomIRLFrom beginning to end, this room kept us entertained and constantly moving. So many times we realized "I saw something for that!" which took us back to a previous clue. The theming was fun and the puzzles very sensical in retrospect, if not while solving them.
The Great Train HeistAmazing Escape Room - FreeholdEscape roomIRLThis was our second time at this location, having had a not so great GM experience in the first. Gave this a second chance and, although the game was challenging, the GM really broke the experience for us again. She was quite friendly but we felt she didn't monitor the room well. Many details in full review. The games at this location aren't bad, but it really feels like the experiences are diminished by the staff. In addition, there was running and yelling right outside our door at one point that was so violent as to cause items we were working on to fall! Very distracting. I'm disappointed because we really wanted to enjoy ourselves and come back, but I'm afraid we probably won't return to this location.
The CabinWorlds Away EscapeEscape roomIRLWe planned and arrived in the customary 15 min early timeframe. Upon arrival, you're greeted with a closed door stating that you should "wait" for a gamemaster. Standing in the hall with other groups gets old fast. The gamemaster arrived ~5 minutes after our scheduled START time, which was a bit concerning, and told us on the way upstairs that his last group "Went soooo long..." The GM introduced himself and admitted he was "pretty new" but "I know enough about the room to get you through all the puzzles". Wow... We were handed a walkie-talkie, which is how you get hints here. It doesn't appear there's a close eye on what you're doing, either, as we were asked "What puzzle do you need help with? Where are ya?" Immersion was broken when the GM entered the room on at least two occassions; one while we were in a remote area which created an unintentional jump-scare and almost compromised the safety of the GM! The time remaining was frequently reset, seemingly arbitrarily, and did not accurately reflect the time we were inside. The GM exclaimed that we were the fastest group he had seen on one of the harder rooms they have. We were planning on returning to do other rooms the following day. Even with the prospect of a 20% discount for bouncebacks, we opted NOT to do more rooms with this company. Overall, the experience could have been worse, but it had so many opportunities for imrpovement. I'll detail the room and gameplay itself in the breakdown below.
