Ghost PatrolTrivium GamesEscape roomIRLThe first part of this room was wonderful. Excellent puzzles, great set, clever premise. The second half was challenging in a way that detracted from the enjoyment for part of our team. There was a lot of spatial problem solving in the second part of the room, which was ideal for two on our team, but the other two of us were literally standing there just watching with nothing to do for quite a while. Still enjoyed the room overall, but this bottleneck of a single kind of puzzles ended up as the focus of our conversation for the whole drive home.
UndercookedOmescape - SunnyvaleEscape roomIRLThis game had me in the zone and sweating as much as I expect I would in a real kitchen. We played as a team of 4 and had a great time, once we got through the initial understanding of how the room worked. One negative with this room is that the gap between the introduction and really understanding what you have to do in the room is pretty wide. It took us way too long to get actually started and I don't fault our team for that, I fault the introduction process.
Hide + SeekThe Escape WarehouseEscape roomIRLThis is my favorite room to date, and we did it a day after doing two rooms at 13th gate. It progressed beautifully through the puzzles with just enough of a connection from one step to the next for you to figure it out, without ever being obvious. Our group of 6 stayed busy and engaged the whole time and we had multiple wow moments as we made our way through the room. Highly recommended experience!
Cutthroat Cavern13th Gate EscapeEscape roomIRLThis room was Disney quality impressive with the set design and was grander that I even imagined it would be. That said, the things that caught us up and prevented us from getting out were frustratingly simple time sucks or things without a path pointing you toward them. Loved the experience, but really struggled with those elements that brought down our enjoyment.
RockstarCityscape GamesEscape roomIRLFun room that was clearly designed with love and attention to details. Some puzzles did not have enough of a connecting line between them to be able to know what the next step was, but a gentle hint from the GM was enough to keep moving forward.
ZookeeperCityscape GamesEscape roomIRLSo. Frickin. Adorable. This is a perfect room to bring a new player or young player to as their first introduction to escape rooms while also being an enjoyable room for experienced players to appreciate. Clear puzzles, clever theming and an overall good time.
Lost WoodsPortal Adventures - Eugene and Springfield [prev. Portal Escape Rooms]Escape roomIRLI have been raving about the Portal Mansion experience to everyone who cares to listen since we went there to complete them. The theming, decor, puzzles and tech built into the rooms represent the best I have seen in Oregon. They even have a well known voice actor as the narrator of their intro video (I won't spoil who it is, but see if you can sort it out!).
The AttractionPalace GamesEscape roomIRLThis room was loads of fun and easily made it to my top 3 rooms ever. Set design, tech, story and puzzles were all well integrated and thought out. It was an experience from start to finish and I look forward to doing their other rooms.
Cat LadyMad Genius EscapesEscape roomIRLI so loved this room and recommended it to everyone. I still talk about elements in the room and the theme was so much fun. It's unfortunate that they closed down, but hopefully others who experienced this will use it to spark new rooms that are similar.
Shaky Grounds CafeSide Quest Escape GamesEscape roomPop upPortableThis room exceeded my expectations and really sets a solid template for what an educational escape room can be. Solid puzzles, fun effects and actual learning.
