Παρεκκλήσι & Κατακόμβες [Chapel & Catacombs]Lockhill - Nea IoniaEscape roomIRLWOW! WHAT AN EXPERIENCE! IMMERSION 💯 As soon as you arrive at the facility, to the moment you leave, you are in for an absolute treat. THIS GAME IS SCARY. You have an option to dial down the scariness and play in daylight mode (no actors), which is what I chose to do because I thought my soul was going to leave my body. YOU WILL BE SWEATING* *I played in a group of 2, and the facility is HUGE. There were moments where I was winded, but that didn’t take away from the enjoyment. The puzzles were enjoyable, and we didn’t find anything overly difficult. If you are in Athens, you should definitely make this a part of your travel itinerary. You won’t be disappointed!
PrayEscape Room KatwijkEscape roomIRLABSOLUTELY SUPERB! A well crafted experience from beginning to end. A beautiful set, fun puzzles, and interesting storytelling. One of the game designers was the GM for our game. After the experience, he gave us a behind the scenes look at the space, which really underscored all the thought and detail that went into making sure the game was the best it could be.

The Mysterious Miseries of Franklin N. SteinImprobable Escapes - WonderlandEscape roomIRL🧟♂️The Mysterious Miseries of Franklin N. Stein is another great room by the folks at Improbable Escapes! 🏠Great set, great props! A lot of intricate detail went into the creation of this room. I loved interacting with the set pieces. This is the kind of room that inspires me to embark on creative endeavours. 🧩 The puzzles were fun and varied! The signposting was great. It was clear what puzzles needed to be worked on, and how many puzzles you had remaining. The puzzle flow is non linear. 👯♀️ I played this room as a duo, but this would be a great game for a group of 4, as there is a lot of puzzle content. A particular challenge ate up a good chunk of our time, but the GM gave us 10 extra minutes, so we managed to escape. 👏🏽 This is my favourite room at this location, but all the rooms here are great!
Le Magicien De Paris [The Magician Of Paris]Deep InsideEscape roomIRL🪄 Playing The Magician of Paris at Deep Inside is probably the most complete escape room experience I’ve had; from showing up to the facility, right until I left, everything felt expertly crafted. 🧲 Their branding is ON POINT! It’s the only time I’ve bought merch from an escape room. 🔈 The sound design is ON POINT! It’s also the only time in an escape room where I could hear everything perfectly and didn’t have to struggle to make out what was being said. 🎩 The theatrics are ON POINT! The actor did a great job, and it was fun leaning into the roll that we had to play. ❤️ Such a superb, and memorable experience. A must do while in Paris! 📼 SIDE NOTE: The folks at Deep Inside have an 8 part behind the scenes series on Youtube. Each video is around 8-13 minutes long. It’s worth checking out if you’re interested in their origin story and how they went about building their experiences.
Bunker: AI's MartyrdomRevo EscapeEscape roomIRLThis room definitely has some cool moments and interesting physical challenges. I thought the narrative was decent, but I felt that the overarching story wasn’t delivered through the gameplay well. After the game there was a video debriefing that showed us how all the puzzles were solved, and what the story arc was. How we solved things was slightly different from what we were shown, so it was interesting to see how different methods of solving brought about the same results!
The Tomb: Raiders of the SwordRevo EscapeEscape roomIRLThe Tomb is definitely one of the more unique escape room offerings in Toronto! I will say though, please pay heed to the warnings on the website. None of them are exaggerations. The personal protective equipment provided really is necessary! Physical agility is definitely needed to complete some parts of this room. Everyone in your group has to be comfortable with crawling and climbing. I’m not someone who gets claustrophobic, but this is the most uncomfortable I’ve felt in a tight space. There were emergency exits, but if we were in a situation where we needed them, it may have been an issue to get to. I think the folks at Revo absolutely nailed the look of the tomb! Most escape rooms have varying levels of artifice to the built environment, but in this room I legitimately felt as if I was inside of an ancient tomb. I enjoyed how at the end of the experience the host showed us a video of the ways in which the puzzles were intended to be solved. My group completed the puzzles differently, and it was interesting to see how we overcomplicated things that ended up being quite simple 😅
Botanica GreenhouseDaydream Adventures - BrimleyEscape roomIRLThe folks at Daydream Adventures make the most beautiful escape room sets in the city 😍 The storyline in Botanica Greenhouse was so much fun! I loved how they managed to incorporate moments of humour into the experience. Loved the characters! I played as a duo, although I think they had to bypass one puzzle since we didn’t have a third set of hands to activate something. Aside from that, everything was manageable to do as a pair.
Wild West ShowdownOmventure - MarkhamEscape roomIRL🤠🐴 Wild West Showdown was an interesting experience. I played in a group of 8, which I would NOT recommend doing since the game is mostly linear and there are some small spaces. The room has a live actor, but I wasn’t completely sold on the performance. The costume (or lack thereof), and his energy was not convincing. He was extremely nice though and tried to inject moments of comedy into the experience. This game is interesting in that you are working against each other, but also with each other. I would be curious to know how the player vs. player nature of the game is received by other groups. My group kind of had it in the back of our mind, and didn’t really keep track of the scoring system. The GM had to bring our attention back to it in the last 3rd of the game. The last part of the game is where the room truly shined, in my opinion, as it had the most engaging puzzles to do. The set was really nice throughout all spaces.
VHSReady Set Go AdventuresEscape roomIRLVHS is a solid room 📼 👹 Surprisingly, I didn’t find it too scary! The actor interactions were minimal and they weren’t drawn out too long. I found Motel Betty @ Omescape Markham scarier than VHS. Ready Set Go does point based escape rooms, so the aim is to get a score of 10/10. Some points were quick(er) solves, while others required up to six rounds to complete 😅😅 There was a task that I absolutely LOATHE that made a reappearance in this room. I left that puzzle on read 💅🏽💅🏽 That was a point I was A-OK with forfeiting. VHS is a good option for those looking to do a scary escape room in the GTA.
