The Sherlock HomeSolve The Sherlock HomeEscape roomOther This is a must for escape room enthusiasts especially because this is maybe only one of two escape room air bnbs in the United States right now. The puzzles are numerous in this house so for just two people I was glad that we booked two nights so that we could space out the puzzling in between unpacking, sight seeing, and ordering meals to the house. There is a lot of searching involved throughout the house. Some puzzles are a little harder than others. But once we got to the third or fourth stage in the puzzles we flew through and were absolutely delighted and astounded by the craftsmanship of elements of the house. We cannot believe they built what they did into this old house from the seventies! So glad that we flew all the way out from CT to this experience. Also the home was very comfortable and the hosts provided us with snacks and drinks and cute decorations to celebrate our first wedding anniversary! So thoughtful and sweet! Also be prepared for many deer in the area that just wander the front yards of the quaint neighborhood. The hosts provided us with popcorn to feed them and at one point I got about a dozen deer to congregate in the yard! Overall a wonderful time and I can’t wait to do their second one based on Grimm’s fairytales!
Storyteller's SecretBoxarooEscape roomIRLWent to this room because it won the Golden Lock In Award and was not disappointed! This is a wonderful independent escape room and this room is lovely and unique and one of a kind. The flow is natural, the puzzles are good and satisfying, the technology is high tech and whimsical at times! I love the gameplay and then it does something different in the second half that makes it very unique in terms of how you play it versus regular escape rooms. This room is fantastic and should be on everyone’s list.
The Body ShopRed Fox EscapesEscape roomIRLFantastic room - very unique theme and well done puzzles. This is a highly memorable room that lives up to all of its awards that it has received.
PlaygroundThe Escape Game - New JerseyEscape roomIRLWent to this room since it won a Golden Lock In Award. Absolutely so much fun and makes you feel like a kid again. Was wary because this room does not do private groups so you have the potential to book with strangers, which can make or break an experience sometimes. There were just two of us but then one stranger also booked and we were pleasantly surprised! We definitely needed the extra person because there was a lot to do in this room. I recommend 4-6 people for this room. This room had so many fun elements to it and I really enjoyed it.
Before MoonriseEscape New HavenEscape roomIRLWhat a fantastic room! One of my top 5, for sure, and I have done over 50 rooms. This is the best room at Escape New Haven. I did this with my family and while I don’t normally like doing rooms with large amount of people, this one comfortably supported all 6 of us. This one has lots of great technology - lights, sound, RFID, you name it! The theme is fun and unique and has so many fun and surprisingly elements. Truly delightful things that made me giggle out loud with joy. I really love this room and wish I could experience is anew again.
Conundrum MuseumBoxarooEscape roomIRLThis is a good solid room but my least favorite of the ones at Boxaroo. It’s an interesting theme and does have some fun and unique elements but for just two players , it was a bit difficult so I recommend at least 3-4 for this room. Some of the puzzles were a bit obtuse and we did require some hints. Perhaps if there were more people we would not have needed the hints. Overall still a great room but I found it to be the most difficult of all three rooms currently offered at Boxaroo
The U-BoatRed Fox EscapesEscape roomIRLImmersive elaborate set. Great room, though not as good as the Body Shop room. Does include a fun surprise element that we enjoyed.
The ScoreEscapismEscape roomIRLThis was an interesting room. It’s not a traditional escape room - more like a puzzle room in which you have to scramble to solve as many puzzles as possible in order to get the most money to get on the scoreboard. The theme is loose, no real immersion, and the puzzles do not necessarily connect to each other. There are some interesting and fun surprises but it is on the whole overwhelming. I would not recommend for first time escape room players as you do need a sense of organization in order to prioritize what puzzles you want to solve. You need someone searching for things, you need to know your other players strong suits (are they good at word puzzles? Are they good at recognizing patterns? Etc) so you can delegate each task properly. This is not a room to escape at all - so it does lack the satisfaction of completion because you truly cannot complete everything in one visit no matter how good you are. The goal is to come back and complete them faster and better next time to get a higher score but that might not entice regular escape room enthusiasts. It is unique and worth doing, but don’t expect a high level of immersion technology, or story.
Kraken's Revenge at Kelpstone NarrowsPuzzle Theory - MiddletownEscape roomIRLGreat room- Fun surprises! Some pretty satisfying puzzles. Highly recommend.
Mystery of the Magician's StudyBoxarooEscape roomIRLGreat room, great theme! Lots of great technology involved though still a good number of combination locks and directional locks. 3-4 people is a good amount for this room. There were some fun surprises and interesting puzzle elements at play.
