The Unplayed MelodyMission Escape Pitt StEscape roomIRLFirst, the storytelling, chefs kiss. I feel like escape rooms usually just have a general background story and the room has themes that match the story, but this escape room revealed more and more of the narrative after each clue and each room. This story telling definitely added to the satisfaction of completing each puzzle. The room has some pretty high tech puzzles and features that was pretty cool to play through. My boyfriend pointed out that he enjoyed how most of the puzzles led to another sequentially, which kind of supported the story telling technique, as opposed to a room full of puzzles that can be solved in no particular order that gets you to the goal. I felt the difficulty was average. Many of the puzzles required the threw of us to think them through, but it didn't take too much time compared to most puzzles I've done. The gameplay and story telling was very refreshing
Heart Of The MountainHeart Of The MountainEscape roomIRLHuge escape room. Production value very very high. My group was wowed everytime we stepped into a room by just the room design alone. Puzzle difficulty were a little less than medium difficulty than what I've experienced. I usually run rooms with just my boyfriend and myself but I definitely reccomend at least 3 or more due to the nature of the puzzles. Puzzles were also unique and very much aligned with the theme and layout of the room. My group took the whole hour but it went by so fast.
Scooby-Doo™ and the Spooky Castle AdventureEscapology - CarlsbadEscape roomIRLVery cool room with videos displays that offered information for the puzzles, but the puzzles themselves were all mechanical. It was still an interesting and unique way to play a room. The puzzles themselves were a good average difficulty. This was one of the rooms where multiple puzzles could be attempted to be worked on at once, but there were a few that required the answer of one puzzle in order to solve the next. All in all, another decent puzzle to notch on your belt.
The Original QuizQuiz Room - SydneyEscape roomOther Not for me. The game itself isn't a bad game, but it just a typical competitive trivia game that I felt didn't add anything special or unique to this style of game.
GodfatherPaniq Room SydneyEscape roomIRLDifficulty was more on the medium hard side for me and my boyfriend. There were a few clues that we asked for help because we just couldn't figure out what we needed to do for the clue. The I enjoyed the style of clues in the second room a lot. The atmosphere was very on theme. Very fun escape room
Buried AliveEscape ThisEscape roomIRLBeing separated from my boyfriend for the entirety of the puzzle really revealed how much I relied on another person to figure out puzzles. It's one thing to have to figure out a puzzle on your own, but having to explain the pieces to someone else in a way that they understand the puzzle AND be able to decipher the clues from how you explained it added to the difficulty. The puzzles themselves may not have been extra difficulty, but that being separated was a fun fun challenge from the room. Having our communication skills tested definitely added to the difficulty of the puzzles. I would consider this room a harder room than most. The atmosphere of the room was definitely pretty spooky and thrilling, mostly from the intensity of the music and sound, leading to some pretty tense feelings from me. The room was campy scary, but never actually frightening.
