The BirdMyssTic RoomsEscape roomIRLIt’s clear that a lot of heart goes into each MyssTic room. The Bird is no exception. While the space is smaller than their other two rooms, they’ve managed to pack a lot of unique puzzles, excellent set design, touching story, and some subtle but nonetheless impressive technology. Difficulty wise, it was fairly achievable for two people to complete within the time limit. Our GM Mika was also excellent. Highly recommended, give it a go!
Curse of the Hidden TempleExpedition EscapeEscape roomIRLLoved the theming and clever puzzle design of this room. We had Anna as our game master and she was fantastic. The production value was very high, and all the puzzles felt very fair even where we got stuck. We finished with about 18 minutes to spare as a team of 2.
Mafia: The Golden RingAdventure Rooms - Melbourne (Bourke St)Escape roomIRLGreat room. Makes excellent use of the Mafia theme. There is some very innovative puzzle design going on here. A proper third generation room. Highly recommended!
PlaygroundThe Escape Game - NYC MidtownEscape roomIRLI proposed in this room. My girlfriend and I had done every other The Escape Game room in New York,( and two in DC), so I knew all their rooms are of the highest production value. Shout out to Alec for helping me organise before hand, and Justin for running our session on the day. We arranged for a “Will You Marry Me” sign to pop up with the final McGuffin. As for the game itself, it was excellent, although I was a little distracted and my partner ended up solving most of the puzzles. When the ending came, she was so obsessed with getting out of the room and stopping the clock that she ran right past the sign, and I had to drag her back in. She said yes, and the team was nice enough to give us a little extra prize to take home.
Ghost LightMyssTic RoomsEscape roomIRLBoth Myss Tic escape rooms are excellent, but the Ghost Light Theatre is my personal favourite. The narrative and presentation are what set it apart. The rooms feel ghostly, but not frightening. Puzzles were fun, and there is an absolutely killer finale. One of the best rooms in New York, (possibly the best).
Speakeasy: Secrets Of The Green FairyAdventure Rooms - Melbourne (Bourke St)Escape roomIRLThe lovely crew at Adventure Rooms were kind enough to let us play test this room. Even in its early state, this room is a banger. Once again they knocked it out of the park with theming and puzzle design. There were a few puzzles, particularly a physical challenge, that had us stuck for a long time, but we’ve been assured they are planning to adjust those elements. Overall a top room!
The Abandoned CabinAdventure Rooms - Melbourne (Bourke St)Escape roomIRLGreat room for horror lovers with a ton of references. There was a lot of effort to build a creepy atmosphere, and a few well crafted jump scares. No live actors or dark rooms, so if you are a scaredy cat like me it’s still manageable. A lot of care has gone into the puzzle design. If you are going to the Adventure Rooms, I would highly recommend all of their Bourke St rooms.
Montauk ProjectMyssTic RoomsEscape roomIRLBoth Myss Tic escape rooms have some of the highest production value in New York. The Montauk Project is a must for Stranger Things enthusiasts. Personally I’ve never watched the show, so most of the references were lost if me, but the room was a blast all the same. Highly recommend!
Special Ops: Mysterious MarketThe Escape Game - Penn QuarterEscape roomIRLThis was the first The Escape Room game my partner I ever played, and we were instantly hooked. This is top notch escape room production quality. This room has some quirky narrative twists and turns which make it quite memorable. Only thing we got caught on, is there is one puzzle that requires breaking something, which was surprising to us.
The Forgotten SonExpedition SydneyEscape roomIRLWhat a room! The theming is classically Australian. There are a few fun spooky moments and minor jump scares to watch out for. While we fumbled on the very last puzzle and weren’t able complete the room in time, we felt the puzzles were ultimately fair.
