Hope EndThe Ministry Of PeculiaritiesEscape roomIRLThematically, dramatically, and frantically superb. It lives up to the hype. Just book it. A big BRAVO to the staff and creative team!
Paradox | The Incredible Time MachineRabbit Hole Recreation ServicesEscape roomIRLBest bathrooms at any escape room I’ve been to! Spacious, inclusive, themed with decorative touches. Bravo! I knew this place would be great from the lobby decor and bathroom before even stepping into the escape room. One of the best set designs and most unique puzzles out there!
The Nest [Immersive Theatre]Hatch EscapesEscape roomOther We were almost discouraged by the idea that this is “not a traditional escape room”, but escape room lovers that appreciate ambiance, staging, theming, and story will ABSOLUTELY LOVE this. Probably the best “world-building” of anything I’ve experienced. It is a truly fantastic experience, especially for a duo or small group. We had a group of four and it was cozy. A very memorable experience.
InksidiousEscape Room 66 - Los AngelesEscape roomIRLI highly recommend this room! One of my favorite themes and set design of all time. The puzzles are creative and inspired by the theme. Set design really transports you to another world, and in order to do that, so much of this room had to be created from scratch. Bravo! Would recommend this room to anyone.
Masters Of MagicGatlin's Escape Games - The VillageEscape roomIRLThe theming, atmosphere and props were all fantastic (and the redeeming quality that allowed me to give this place a fairly positive review). The puzzles were good, and the interactive elements were really fun and themed well. The staff experience was quite bad (see comments specifically about that). What was a well crafted room was spoiled by a very chatty GM that wasn’t at all congratulatory or celebratory on our escape.
Black DragonEscape Room LAEscape roomIRLI feel super mixed about this room. If there was a 🫳🏻 “ehh” hand, between thumbs up and down, I would pick it. What ultimately ticked to thumbs up was the work that went into the setting and atmosphere. I really can appreciate the effort, vision, and execution of an amazing set up. Our experience was not filled with the fun and thrill of other escape rooms because there were three puzzles/items that were malfunctioning, plus, the ultimate reveal of the victory had us scratching our heads. Two of us (in a group of five) completed the final puzzle without even knowing we were winning the room, while the other three were in another place still working on a puzzle that ultimately had no impact on us winning the game (because of a malfunction). That excitement of a win and escape was flattened and it was quite disappointing.
Seeking SasquatchPuzzle Room PittsburghEscape roomIRLWe had a disspointing experience at this room when we attempted it a week before it was closed permanently. During the pre-game chat and overview, the game master mentioned that there were a few things not working in the room but they weren't going to fix them because the room was going to be closed the next week anyway. This included the micophone/speaker to communicate with the game master, and so instead they provided a walkie-talkie for communication that died part of the way through our experience... so much so that one of us had to leave the room to go track down the game master and get some help. The lighting in the room was dim for ambiance and theming, but it made it nearly impossible to see some of the important elements, including a puzzle on dark gray rocks that had important things painted in black on them. It just seemed like a poor choice. The game master was apologetic, but I just think that if you weren't going to fix the broken elements before the room officially closes, then there were other options: Close the room a week early... Let those who book the room know about the issues on the website before booking... or offer the room at a discount during its last week of run. We only did one room while we were in Pittsburgh for the weekend, and chose this one because of its unique theme... and unfortunately it left us wishing we would have chosen some of the other venues we had bookmarked.

CheckmateThe Ruse Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLOur Checkmate experience was fantastic! The GM was kind and did a great job of explaining the premise without giving too much away. After doing almost 100 rooms, this one really had something unique and special: elements where individual people were pulled to another space to work on things alone. It spiced things up just enough but also didn’t diminish anything from the overall feel. It worked really well with the storyline.
Raiders of the Lost TempleAbandoned Acres Escape Adventures Escape roomIRLAbandon Acres is really doing a FANTASTIC job. Although this may sound like a bit of shade, I mean it with love: I would NOT expect an escape room in Sparta, MI to be this great. It proves just how much the owners/creators/operators love and appreciate escape rooms. We've done rooms in some of the largest cities in the US that have access to more resources, and these rooms in Sparta just as great (and in many cases, even better!). They are doing innovative things in their rooms, telling great stories, keeping it fun, AND the staff have been very nice each time we've been. I really can't recommend this place any higher.
