Even if you are from the states it’s absolutely worth taking a vacay in the Netherlands just to play this. The build out is insane and beyond your expectations. Get ready for a surreal, dream-like adventure.
Mogollon Monster: Scouting for Arizona's BigfootThe Nemesis ClubEscape roomIRLThere’s nothing negative you can say about this room they got everything right! On top of the puzzles being fun and logical the set design is top notch, it has great special effects and the immersion is perfect. I love the way they created a foreboding, realistic camping s experience especially in the beginning sequence. This venue also has a gorgeous lobby and some great ideas going forward — can’t wait to see what they do next.
The Amsterdam CatacombsLogic Locks - The Amsterdam CatacombsEscape roomIRLIf you can only do 1 or 2 rooms in the Netherlands make sure this is one of them — this room is NOT to be missed. I’ve done 200+ escape rooms and this is the closest I’ve ever felt to being in a movie. The theatrical presentation in this room is insane and the actors are so ridiculously good; they must have been professionally trained Shakespearean actors or something. Such a memorable experience, even your friends who aren’t into escape rooms will love this!
Project MinotaurQuest Room - HollywoodEscape roomIRLThis is quite the experience and really stands out on the escape room scene. It’s a huge, maze like room with lots of corridors and rooms to explore. It’s not super puzzle heavy but that’s fine considering you’ll spend tons of time running from the Minotaur. There are multiple actors involved and honestly the Minotaur was not the scariest part in our experience! The guy actor we got did SUCH a great job with his role. The ending sequence is pretty cool too. Expensive, but worth it.
Mutiny: Skull IslandEscape Games at the RiverEscape roomIRLThis entire location is such a hidden gem and totally worth the drive from LA and other parts of CA. My friend and I came from central and norcal to play these games; we have played top rooms around the world and the quality of this room is up there with many of the best. I loved the last part of this room the most. It also has some really cool special effects. Their warehouse and dragon rooms are great as well!
K.O.N.G ProtocolEscape Barcelona 2 3Escape roomIRLThis room has some of the best set design & atmosphere that I’ve seen. The game play is very task based with some cool special effects, unique moments, and even story twists. My group felt the game needed a bit more sign posting (although the lack of sign posting seems to be popular in the region), as well as a bit of added safety at some points during the game. But overall this room will be a new must-do for enthusiasts!
45 Lampkin LaneConfusion EscapesEscape roomIRLYet another winner from Confusion escapes! I’ve done all 3 of their rooms now & they’ve all been consistently great. This room was just the right level of creepy while still having real puzzles, which is sometimes a rare balance to find in scary escape rooms. The set design & tech were A+ and the room does something I haven’t quite seen before (blink & you’ll miss it though!). I can’t wait for their 4th room to open!
La Santa [The Saint]Shock Escape Room - Abduction MadridEscape roomIRLThis room felt uncomfortably real. For a moment I forgot we were on a set in a warehouse; if you told me the company built their business around an existing monastery I would believe it. I usually don’t scare too easily but I really did not want that nun anywhere near me. This was probably the creepiest escape room I’ve ever done.
Jurásico [Jurassic]Golden PopEscape roomIRLThis room seems to be a bit divisive ratings wise. That’s probably because game play is a mix of puzzles tasks; personally I strongly prefer the former but a lot of people will appreciate the latter. Our group needed quite a bit of direction because many times we weren’t sure where to go next (this seems to be a regional thing though). But ultimately this was a fun & enjoyable experience, especially for fans of the movie! The set design quality is insanely high & the wow moments really standout. I recommend adding this to your Barcelona itinerary!
The Ghost WriterHorror ProductionsEscape roomIRLThis is an absolutely beautifully done & theatrical experience that deserves to be one of the staples in the region. After doing 25 rooms in Athens, this was my favorite. In my opinion they nailed every aspect, from the acting, to the lighting, to the set design and of course the puzzles. If you’re planning an escape trip to Athens make sure to add this game to your schedule.
