The Sins of Doctor FaustusCaptivating WorldsEscape roomIRLThis might be my favorite room ever. It was super super well themed and very tech-y. It had a spooky atmosphere and a wide variety of puzzles. I appreciate that this spot tells you when a particular puzzle is complete
Welcome to the MachineCaptivating WorldsEscape roomIRLI liked the room, but probably not as much as Dr Faustus or the Underground. Like other experiences at Captivating Worlds, this room had a wide variety of puzzles that required different skills.
Deep UndergroundCaptivating WorldsEscape roomIRLAgain, Captivating Worlds is so cool. I really like that in Deep Underground there are multiple rooms and you are going back and forth between rooms multiple times to complete puzzles. There are also a wide variety of types of puzzles. The experience is incredibly well themed and had a good story. We had six people in our group and I’d say at multiple times throughout the experience we felt quite cramped, so I think 3-4 max would be best.
Doomsday Disaster: Bunker Tested, Apocalypse AppovedMystery Soup Escape Rooms [prev. Lock & Clue Escape Rooms]Escape roomIRLI liked it a lot! We are relatively experienced escape room enthusiasts and found the room somewhat easy. We escaped with about 20 minutes left and no clues. But the atmosphere was great and had a variety of puzzles that we enjoyed.
The Barnyard WindsCaptivating WorldsEscape roomIRLThere were plenty of puzzles here so for the most part, everyone in our group of four was able to break off and work on something different on their own or in pairs. Plenty of small puzzles here and quite a variety of types. This one is more family friendly, but still a fun challenge.
The Sorcerer's CurseMystery Soup Escape Rooms [prev. Lock & Clue Escape Rooms]Escape roomIRLThe puzzles in this room were a different type of challenge than a more code-and-lock style room, which is a bit different than what we’re used to. I felt like we struggled quite a bit and it was frustrating at times. Some puzzles didn’t “trigger” like they were supposed to and the game master had to ask if we did something or not and manually trigger the next part. It was also quite dark at times. I get that they want ambiance but I still want to see. I will still check out other rooms at Mystery soup, though, because I really liked the bunker one.
Cosmic CrisisThe Escape Game - LynnfieldEscape roomIRLReally fun! Great variety of puzzles and technology. One part was a little difficult with two people, but we just had to amp up our teamwork and communication! The room was really well themed. One of my favorites at The Escape Game company having done about ten of the different rooms available now.
Ruins: Forbidden TreasureThe Escape Game - LynnfieldEscape roomIRLIt was fun. The room was rated as a 6/10 in terms of difficulty, which is the easiest of the rooms available here. I would say that it was absolutely harder than some others. Good variety of puzzles.
The VaultMystery Soup Escape Rooms [prev. Lock & Clue Escape Rooms]Escape roomIRLI was initially wary of this rooms since it’s all in the dark, but the flashlights you’re given are pretty powerful and it was never a problem. In fact, I found it really fun and it really added to the experience of a “heist” to be sneaking around an office at night with flashlights. Our game guide really leaned into the theme too and that made it really fun. The puzzles were varied and I liked that you have to combine clues scattered throughout the space to solve them. This was my fourth room at Mystery Soup and I think it’s my favorite
Rest Easy MotelEscape ArtistsEscape roomIRLThis had a fun theme. You could say that the room felt dated, but it is set in a roadside motel so things felt appropriate. The experience is very lock-and-key based so if you get a key you might have to try it on a few different locks that are available. I would definitely try some of the others available at Escape Artists.
