For an investigation, you and your team will take part in ten tests at THE DOME Research Facilities. At the same time, the life-threatening criminal cyborg Hector undergoes the first ever CMNT (controlled molecular neuro transmission) treatment on a cyborg. Hector oddly appears not to be sensitive to the treatment and thus manages to hack THE DOME's system with his internal computer during one of the tests. At the same time, his henchmen on the other side of the world, Thommas Wigg, manage to take out THE DOME's head of security. Because of this, there is nothing that can stop Hector's outbreak. With the result; the escape of an extremely high dose of sodium cyclate into the examination room. You and your team will become intoxicated by this substance and from that moment on will end up in a severe hallucination. After Hector's escape, will you and your team manage to let go of all logic and go along with the flow of your hallucination? Or do you get entangled in the illusion that you still have some idea of what reality is under the influence of Sodium Cyclate ...

What an absolutely buck wild experience. This really lived up to its top ten in the world rating. From the jump you could tell that they’d thought of everything. Mind blowing.

A very unique game, and a marvel of technology and engineering. And yet, maybe due to the overhype or the fact we only played it as a team of 2, the game did not click for us past the first (and very strong) 15-20 minutes. Acknowledging the narrative framing device, the story outside of it (its premise) does not make sense, doesn't really get rounded up. Being colorblind, two puzzles tasked me with guiding my partner while not able to see properly and calling out something "black" when it was dark green, and missing out on a guiding symbol entirely at a later point... We never recovered from those moments of frustration during the game, not helped by a late-game magnet not recognising that our task was complete, and stuck in a loop telling us to do exactly what we just had (a very, very, very simple "put this one thing exactly here"). This probably won't happen to anybody else though, and it was one magnetic sensor in an otherwise mindblowing display of tech!

Particularly interesting or different

Yes

Tech & engineering. Enough said - go see by yourself.

Story

The narrative device is great but could lead to much more (avoiding spoilers here), but the premise of the story makes no sense at all (not a spoiler - but why is the other guy there at all??), and the ending doesn't really round anything up.

IN-SANE. Seriously. Respect.

Ideal number of players

3-4 at least. Officially playable with 2, but we did NOT enjoy the experience based on what we had to get done and running back and forth.

Nothing too crazy, but it can get intense.

Was anything broken?

Yes

One magnet in the end (see review above). Quite insignificant given the INSANE amount of tech in the room, but it led to three minutes of frustration.

BAD if you're colorblind, and if you have reduced mobility (thresholds, stairs, more that I won't spoil).

It's almost completely unnecessary to add a voice to the chorus at this point - but The Dome is terrific! The story is a bit vague, but I didn't think it mattered. It's just a bunch of fun, full of creative brilliance, a physical adventure.

Easily the most unique room we’ve ever done - I’m glad I didn’t read more about it before going in. Some of the coolest/most WTF moments I’ve ever encountered in a room, genuinely an experience we’ll remember forever. As an absolute scaredy cat, the room was spookier than I expected at some points - don’t want to spoil anything but could be worth knowing if you’re as fragile as I am 😌 I think we would have benefited from a bit more of a backstory going in, as the room felt a bit disjointed at parts, but the actual experience was so balls to the wall that I didn’t really notice until after and I was thinking back on the room. Our GM was absolutely lovely, and the lobby area is so well stocked with games and snacks, we were sad not to have been able to stay for longer!

So the core fun of the dome is the immersive atmosphere and experience. Mixed in with the interactive puzzles, this room stands out from the other rooms in terms of pretty much everything (except puzzles, maybe). This is the greatest escape room I’ve done. This room gets five big booms.

The game was creative and original, and I really appreciated that. There were some cool “wow” moments that I had seen in other rooms, but done really well here. We had some technical issues that really ruined part of the experience. We also didn't realise it was a malfunction, so we were just confused for about 15 minutes, and then continued to wonder if what we were doing was correct for the rest of the game. But we did enjoy the room until this point. We were only two and still escaped, but I would recommend 3 or 4.

Customer service

The GM was very nice, but due to this malfunction, I was surprised nothing was offered to compensate us.

This absolutely deserved the title of #2 in the world at the time we did it. The set is insane, and apparently it was so taxing to build that the creators broke up over it and one person had to see it to completion.
