It's the height of Prohibition and speakeasies are all the rage. You don't recall much about the other night, but you do remember putting up your prized Babe Ruth signed baseball as collateral for your tab. When you attempted to settle up, they said they'll just keep the ball instead. Today, you've vowed to get it back. You don't know where that speakeasy is, but you know entered through a barbershop. Now find your way in, get your baseball back, and get out before the mob guys return and give you a slugging worse than that of the Babe himself.

We enjoyed this room! This was my 27th game (22w - 5L) which I played with 3 other adults with varying statistics. The GM was very friendly and offered a few hints (plus allowed us to complete the room even though we were 2 minutes past the deadline - thank you!!). I liked that the room was mostly non-linear, so that we could all attempt a task. There were lots of physical locks which I also enjoy. The decorations were authentic and well maintained. I'd recommend this room for all ages and abilities.
The story flowed well, the decorations were authentic and well maintained. I had a fun time!
The props were immersive and the timer was easy to see. The room was large enough for a group of 4-6 and suitable for all ages.
The GM was very friendly and even allowed us to complete the game even though we were about 2 minutes past the deadline. Thanks!!!
Yes
We solved a few puzzles that we have not encountered in other rooms. I like the Speakeasy theme and the decorations were immersive.
Everything was very authentic.
Hard
We have played all four games at Quicksand. I think Chinatown was the hardest (we failed) but this might be the second most difficult.
Mechanical
There are lots of physical locks, which we really like because then we know how many puzzles we need to solve to move on. (Plus multiple players can try different combinations simultaneously)
4
I'd recommend four players with experience, maybe five players if you have solved fewer than ten rooms.
Not scary
The room was well lit and not scary.

Any age is fine, but under ten years old might lose interest.
No
Everything was in working condition and well maintained.
No
Thank goodness.
Somewhat
There is a lot of walking around, stooping, etc. but no crawling.
The room is small so a wheelchair would be do-able but difficult. Hearing, vision, and color are involved in the puzzles. To access the business, there is a steep flight of stairs. I didn't see an elevator.

There is lots of street parking.

Kind of a typical escape room — (in a good way!). Lots and lots of locks. Basic structure - one puzzle leads to a combination. A few different puzzles that were fun and a bit different. Nothing blew us away, but still a good challenge. We played with 7, all varied experiences. May be best with 3-4.

I enjoyed that the different spaces were themed individually so you weren’t in the speakeasy the entire time. The set was just okay, nothing spectacular, but then again, I’ve yet to see a bar themed room that wowed me. I really liked several of the puzzles and liked how they were multi-layered. The staff at Quicksand was really great and we had our Megan as our GM for 3 of the 4 rooms that we played. She has a great personality and was a lot of fun.

2-4 is best due to it being fairly linear and because of tight spaces.

This is such a delightful game. The theme is fun, the puzzles are intuitive, but there are still a few moments where you feel stumped before you break through. It’s a very simple game with low tech - but if you’re ok with that the game promises a good time!

i like the speakeasy concept, the puzzles were on theme, but nothing entirely groundbreaking. nice set design but not very high budget. i forget what the story was

I love speakeasies and escape rooms so I was excited for this combo. (Sadly no drinks involved.) The puzzles reflect the theme so well. Very straightforward linear puzzles executed well.

SpeakEasy was so fun and physically involved in a good way. Sarah did an excellent job keeping us on track. Thank you so much.

Hard. Def bring at least 3 people. Good design, very interactive and fun. Lots of thinking and maybe I overthought a lot of clues.

There were a couple of really innovative puzzles and the theme was fun. the rooms were really nicely decorated. I will say we had some trouble with puzzles because the props weren't in great shape, which was frustrating. There was one puzzle near the end which I really wanted to like but it was hard to solve because the props hadn't been maintained very well.
Puzzles were good and reasonably challenging.
I really liked the design of the set but the props were a bit worn out.
staff was super kind and welcoming
Some pieces were hard to deal with because they weren't well maintained. Everything had been reset properly though.

Poorly maintained - necessary puzzle elements are written on things in permanent marker and are now indistinct or smudged. All laminated pieces are battered and have peeling edges that make it hard to line up for stacked clues. Lots of looking at fixed objects and matching with other fixed objects on another wall. Frustrating experience.
Mechanical
Laminated papers and sharpie on battered objects.
