Molly's GameUntold Stories Experiences [prev. Down the Hatch]Escape roomIRLPilgrimage complete! The hype is real, everyone. This is hands down the most complete story we have ever experienced. Every single puzzle fed the narrative. Absolutely stunning set design, lighting design, and music. This room gives you that sense of wonder. Felt like we were in an immersive play. The reveals start from the moment the game starts and just keep coming. Repeat: the hype is real. #3 on our Top Ten as of writing. Escape Couple rating: 6 🗝️: Best of the best. (we use a 1-6🗝️ rating scale)
The Lost Treasure Of Alexander Von HumboldtThe RoomEscape roomIRLYou cannot go wrong with the company. Immersive, unbelievable production value, great stories, creative puzzles. And the staff genuinely love what they do. This room is in our top 10% of all time. Escape Couple rating: 6 🗝️: Best of the best (we use a 1-6🗝️ rating scale)
Geisterjäger Brandon Darkmoor [Ghosthunter Brandon Darkmoor]The RoomEscape roomIRLThis is ranked our #3 of all time (and is Julie’s personal favorite). This isn’t an escape room, it’s an experience. We have never felt so much wonder in a room. There were times we just stopped to take in what was happening around us. Scary but by no means terrifying. We don’t want to give anything away, just take from us: Do it! Chris and I both have favorite memories of this room we talk about all of time (and they are different memories!). When we want to explain to someone how amazing an escape room can be, this room is always top of mind. Anyway, we can’t say enough without giving spoilers, and trust us, you don’t want any. Let the magic happen. We stayed talking about it with the Haider and Marvin for about 30 minutes afterwards. 😂 It’s always better when you’re around people who are so proud of what they do and have a love for the craft.
Der Spielzeugmacher [Toy Maker]Big Break HamburgEscape roomIRLWhimsy up the wazoo. Ending was slightly disappointing (easily fixable) after so many other reveals, but magical regardless. Some of the best set design we’ve encountered and some truly imaginative puzzles. Escape Couple rating: 6 🗝️: Best of the best (we use a 1-6🗝️ rating scale)
PrayEscape Room KatwijkEscape roomIRL#2 on our Top Ten as of writing. We were obsessed with this dark, yet darkly funny, narrative and perfect set. This room will stay with us for all time. Managed to make us deeply invested despite the underlying dark comedy of the storyline. Like, what, why am I almost crying? The set was completely immersive. The builder, who we met, is the same builder for Molly's Game. He's a true craftsman and brings in other professionals such as a set painter and again, cannot overstate the craftsmanship. Live actor integration was flawless - at first I wondered if they were just trying to scare us but then their behavior became more and more clear as the narrative unfolded. An ending fit for the stage - lights, music, performance, set. The set up was fantastic- if you arrive right on time and follow the instructions for entry this will be a 💯 immersive experience (though we found it worth coming early to talk to staff). I'm not going to say that the puzzles seamlessly integrated into the narrative, like in Molly's Game, but frankly, we didn't care. The narrative was strong enough to keep us completely in the moment and the actor often brought us right back into this thrilling ride. And what an amazing staff. I think we talked to everyone who worked here. They were ALL incredibly personable and loved swapping escape room stories. Our favorite company of all time in terms of the staff. You felt like you were welcome into a house of friends. This is proven by their pictures from their own escape trips in the lobby. Escape Couple rating: 6🗝️: Best of the best (we use a 1-6🗝️ rating scale)
The AlchemistSherlockedEscape roomIRLA fully immersive experience that makes you feel more like you’re in a fantasy movie than an escape room. Absolutely mind-blowing reveals and the production value is insane. Creative puzzles that blend perfectly with the story. This is our #2 ranked room out of over 220 rooms across 9 countries. Escape Couple rating: 6🗝️ Best of the Best (our scale is a 1-6🗝️ system)
The EndDarkPark ZoetermeerEscape roomIRL#3 on our all time list as of ranking (though Julie is arguing for its move to #2) This room absolutely oozes originality and creativity. Almost too many wow factors to count. Brilliant use of a live actor and a genuinely genius mix of horror and humor. As such, we didn’t find this room to be “scary” because there was enough levity to keep us grounded. The story was immersive beginning to end and we always love when a room reveals something about the people playing it. There were some bonkers (boinking?) touches that added to the risk-taking and hilarity of this room. Perfect tone of dark humor. You can’t get a more integrated hint system to keep the illusion alive. Do not miss this room, you’ll be talking about it long after the fact. Escape Couple rating: 6🗝️: Best of the best (we use a 1-6🗝️ rating scale)
Wanted: Dead or AliveNo Exit IlioupoliEscape roomIRLWhen you hear "comedy with live actor" you are tempted to make this face 🤨 Comedy is very hard in any language. This guy absolutely crushed it. And we received a mouth watering treat! Creative puzzles, sprawling space, and not a single lock. Honestly, with how many pandemics, missiles, murderers and jailbreaks we’ve handled, it was utterly refreshing to laugh and just have a great time. We brought two 17 year old boys and they were absolutely delighted. As of writing, this is now #8 on our top ten rooms list. Escape Couple rating: 6 🗝️: Best of the best! (we use a 1-6🗝️ rating scale)
The Golden PhoenixMiraculumEscape roomIRLThis room was a blast. Lots of magical and whimsical touches, and more than a few laughs. Great production value and creative puzzles. Also, we adore the staff here. Escape Couple rating: 5 🗝️: Excellent room with wow factors (we use a 1-6🗝️ rating scale)
