Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle60Out - MelroseEscape roomIRLJumanji was our first 60out escape room and it was great! We ended up finishing all the rooms at the Melrose location, and Jumanji was definitely the highlight there. It's really on theme, and knowing the general idea of the movie definitely makes it more enjoyable. Puzzles were fun and different.
Red GiantQuest Room - HollywoodEscape roomIRLThis was a very nice room! It's a darker room where you're given light sources to use (love-hate relationship). The theming was REALLY NICE. Puzzles were challenging and different. The only downside was that there was at least one puzzle that was a bit finnicky/buggy. We got the idea of what we had to do but the puzzle wasn't registering our solution correctly. Other negative was that it was kind of hard to hear the GM on the staticky speakers. We often had to ask him to repeat what he said, burning through more of our time. One puzzle was particularly difficult, but we brute forced the solution once we had a couple parts solved. The ending shocked me because you had to literally break a golden rule of escape rooms to end it. Without the buggy puzzle and subpar speaker system, this room would be pretty top tier.
Borderlands: Tannis's LabRed Door Escape Room - Las VegasEscape roomIRLThis room was okay. It's a small set, but it's probably really immersive and cool if you're into Borderlands. My group wasn't, so it was just another escape room for us. You don't need Borderlands knowledge to play this, but you would probably enjoy it much more if you did. Puzzles were okay, I don't remember necessarily loving them. Also because the set is so small, it felt like we kept looking over the same places and things over and over. Not a fave, but IF you're a Borderlands fan, it's a recommend.
The PerfumerQuest Room - HollywoodEscape roomIRLOverall, it was an okay room. I went with my usual group of four. I felt like there wasn't as much to do in this one. It just took us awhile to solve some puzzles, but there weren't as many puzzles as other escape rooms. Set design and props are solid and fit the storyline well. You need a decent nose for one puzzle. Our GM was enthusiastic but also a little hard to understand at times haha.
Cosmic CrisisThe Escape Game - OrangeEscape roomIRLThis room was so cute and fun. I loved the space theme. Overall, it wasn't super hard, but there was a good amount to do and some puzzles just took a bit more time than others. The set design was really great though and it was one of my early favorite experiences when I first started looking into better designed escape rooms. Definitely a recommend for the fun set/storyline/gameplay.
The Secret of the Serpent SanctumFind & SeekEscape roomIRLThis was the hardest escape room we've ever done. It was really humbling. We're from Los Angeles, and this would've been AT LEAST a 75+ minute room there if not longer. Also, we were given two notepads, which was also new to us. But a few puzzles would require ridiculous memorization ability if you didn't want to use the notepads. Ultimately, we "escaped" but that's only because they gave us extra time to play until we finished. The set design was just okay at first, but the last room was pretty cool. This escape room was so misleading because we were breezing through puzzles at first. Then we started to slow down. By the time we got to the last room, we only had 15 minutes left. We should've used hints sooner but pride prevented us (and we didn't know how much left we still had to do). The puzzles started off simple, but then they became multi-layered, and we were not used to that at all. But I will admit I really did like these challenging puzzles. It's a shame doing an escape room is basically a one-time thing because I would love to re-do this room. I wouldn't say that all the puzzles were the hardest puzzles ever, but I think the sheer amount of puzzles makes it really hard to escape in the given 60 minutes. They did mention the escape rates are not high at their business. My advice for this room, especially if you have 4 people or less, is to split up and manage multiple puzzles at once whenever possible, and manage time well, even if that means using hints. Definitely a strong recommend for experienced players. And a strong "don't recommend" for beginner players because you really need to be used to escape room puzzles and thinking in that mindset to get through this one. Small note: For all their rooms here, they give an audio cue when you solve a puzzle, which is really helpful! There's also a different audio cue when a hint is given on their TV screen in the room.
Grandma's Masterplan60Out - MelroseEscape roomIRLThis is a super fun one with a good amount of puzzles and fun/big set design. It's not the most difficult though. There are supposed to be more puzzles than usual and hence the room is 75 minutes long, but it felt like the same amount of puzzles as others and we ended up finishing in 50 minutes anyways. The storyline is fun. The puzzles were mostly different and fun. I'd recommend this room for something fun, but it's not the most challenging.
Timeliner: Train Through TimeThe Escape Game - Rancho Cucamonga [prev. at San Bernardino]Escape roomIRLFun Escape Game room. All the rooms were completely different themes because you're basically in a Time Machine train. Therefore there was a good mix of puzzles and set design/props.
Special Ops: Mysterious MarketThe Escape Game - Rancho Cucamonga [prev. at San Bernardino]Escape roomIRLFun storyline with a twist. Set was alright/good. Our GM was enthusiastic and admitted she likes to help. Unfortunately, sometimes we didn't want help yet, but she would start dropping hints to us. So we finished with probably 15+ minutes remaining because of the help. Puzzles were okay. I liked some, didn't like some. The room was pretty standard for an Escape Game room.
The DepthsThe Escape Game - TorranceEscape roomIRLFun Escape Game room. The puzzles were moderately difficult. I appreciated some. Others were simple. Recommend for family and casual players.
