Molly's GameUntold Stories Experiences [prev. Down the Hatch]Escape roomIRLDifficult to describe what makes this game my personal favorite and a world's top ranking experience. Besides flawless execution and amazing decor and puzzle architecture that is mind blowing, it is a master class in story telling. It allows you to walk in and immerse yourself in a story without bashing you over the head with a "storyline". You flow through the experience in a first person perspective and Molly magically takes you through her experience. You never feel a hint coming at you, or wonder what you have to do next. You just kick back and let the story happen to you and flow through you. I swear at the end my partner had to remind me we were on a time limit because I was so engrossed in exploring Molly's world I forgot I was on a clock. Molly's Game will forever change your perception of immersive gaming experience for the better. A must for everyone's list.
Παρεκκλήσι & Κατακόμβες [Chapel & Catacombs]Lockhill - Nea IoniaEscape roomIRLThis game is absolutley mind blowing. The size and scope of the set is unprecedented. When I say set - I mean set. To call this an escape room would be a joke. The detail and build quality is par none. And it is MASSIVE. The story is elaborate and movie-length. The actors are very well incorporated and perform their roles expertly. There is one point in the game early one with a scene involving an actor that was literally jaw dropping. The timing and choreography of the actors and all their placement to ensure the game moves forward is so well thought out. The game starts before you even 'arrive' at the chapel. It is a technique of building up the game experience I've only seen so far in a couple of games but definitely saw first in Athens. There is no interaction with GMs or staff perse, the game begins as soon as you enter the building. It really gives you a feeling of immersion and allows you to get into the game without your mind being pulled out by the real world. This game is #*$&$ing scary as @&$! We chose the highest level of fright which was more than we could handle - it slowed us down and we were short a bit to finish the game - but worth it !!! I wish we had made it to the final set though because it is an incredible finale. Anyways, worth the fear factor. They have the most creative ways to build tension and few games have been nearly as scary since playing that game. We were three experienced players and I would say it was tough. Your mind isn't thinking clearly when you are stressed and you will have less team to support you in parts which is an added stress. The puzzles are not terribly challenging which is appropriate for the scare level but I will say the puzzles at the end were harder for us so save some energy for the final lap! It's a long game try to keep track of your time and pace your progress. If you don't like scary games go to the bathroom first but you must try it !!!!
Ctrl Alt RebootEscaparium - LavalEscape roomIRLA great experience revamped and improved upon from a previous incarnation. The game is overall and experience with some puzzles of moderate complexity combined with a good deal of interaction with characters and the GM. The technology implemented is top notch and worked extremely well. The decor is excellent and it is clear a lot of passion went in to the development of this game. It was highly entertaining. Not the most challenging from a puzzle perspective rather it is meant to be experienced with challenges interspersed throughout.
The Body ShopRed Fox EscapesEscape roomIRLThis will be an all time favorite of mine firstly for the great use of props as puzzle pieces and the hilarious plot twist mid game. We played 2 people and finished with a few minutes to spare and had a fantastic time following the storyline with the puzzle reveals. Some degree of seek and discover with mostly one logical step to solve each enigma but super creative ways to integrate the enigmas into the story line. Must play when in Boston 🥰

K.O.N.G. ProtocolEscape Barcelona 2 3Escape roomIRLA fantastic new addition to Escape Barcelona repertoire. I feel they have maintained their strong mix of advanced technology and innovative design with extraordinary storytelling to bring you a 2+ hour adventure in which you are the main characters. Total immersion, minimalist influence from the GM in the form of hint system and the combination of physical challenges with puzzle solving and action sequences is just perfect. Fun puzzles for the puzzle lovers, action sequences that will keep the story lovers happy. Just terrific balance that will leave everyone happy.

I reviewed Easy Bake Coven previously which I also really enjoyed however between the 2 I preferred this game as it is much more rich in puzzles and these game designers really do care about making good enigmas. The game has a great story and the build quality of the set is very good however I particular enjoy and recommend when a game designer sets out to balance good puzzles with a immersive experience so it is mostly and experience you move through or exclusively puzzle after puzzle. Well done !
Dream PortalDaydream Adventures - DanforthEscape roomIRLDream Portal was a beautiful set driven fairytale like game that invites you to explore the space and immerse yourself It the story. The puzzles are not particularly challenging for experienced puzzlers but are very in line with the plot and appropriate for the decor. Interesting lockless enigmas that are certainly family-friendly. I do recommend this room as great for beginners and young players, and good certainly for escapers who appreciate attention to set design.
Easy Bake CovenNiagara EscapementEscape roomIRLI love playing games that have been designed and built by people passionate about the art of creating enigmas. I can always see the passion for their creation in the room. Niagara Escapement is a good example of this. Easy Bake Coven is a cute story - driven escape experience combined with a heathy dose of fun and novel enigmas to keep puzzlers really happy. A lot of care and thought definitely went into making these puzzles feeling fresh and perfectly in line with both the decor and moving the story along appropriately. I played with one other and we had a lot of fun I wouldn’t add more than one other however or you may bottleneck a bit with things to do. Appropriate for all ages. Has a spooky title but is more fairytale in nature than the horror driven genre we are seeing more and more of lately.
La ConFéeserie [The Fairy Confectionary]SOS Aventures - Saint-JérômeEscape roomIRLVery good game build. The decor was very well done and was of high quality. The puzzles were very unique and allowed a group to separate and solve different puzzles simultaneously which is great for teams of 4 or more. The hint system is well done with minimal interaction from the game master. There was one "red herring" prop that I spent time on that wasn't necessary otherwise the flow of the puzzles was quite logical. Highly recommend.
