Ghost PatrolTrivium GamesEscape roomIRLUnique game mechanics with fantastic use of tech, but some of the puzzles did get a little repetitive and relied less on solving skills than patience. Still one of the best rooms in the Bay Area, though I’d rate most Palace games higher. We went with a group of 8, but would have been better with 4-6.

UndercookedOmescape - SunnyvaleEscape roomIRLGreat gameplay, but definitely requires quick thinkers. Lots of running around and yelling to each other from across rooms, so people who have trouble tuning out noises while focusing may struggle. Not a linear storyline, just many small puzzles to solve but getting them all was super satisfying. We did have to get hints a couple of times but I think with one or 2 more people (we played with 4), we would have gotten everything without help. Steep learning curve to understand how to identify and solve puzzles, but once we got going we really flew through them. Wish we could play again!
The AttractionPalace GamesEscape roomIRLDefinitely different from most escape experiences. Puzzles didn’t feel like the main focus, which was a little bit of a disappointment. The puzzles themselves weren’t difficult either. Theming was immersive and technology super impressive, but overall not my favorite room. Multiple people got motion sick, wish there had been warning beforehand.
Cryptic PointExit 446Escape roomIRLGreat puzzles with a few novel concepts. Implementation of puzzles (mostly combination locks) and theming was fun. Older tech, but the room was so immersive that it didn’t need flashier effects to feel engaging. Our team of experts sped through the room and wished there was more, but still had a great time!
Prison BreakThe Escape Game - San FranciscoEscape roomIRLMostly good puzzles, though not super connected to the theme or each other. Team starts off split up, so good communication was key. Fun overall. We played with 7 but ideal is probably 4-6 experienced players. There were enough puzzles and room for everyone to be participating even with 7 which was good.
Forsaken TempleOmescape - SunnyvaleEscape roomIRLTheming was great, and many of the puzzles were fun to solve. However way too much time spent going back and forth between rooms, and some puzzle solutions were a stretch or required huge leaps in logic. Physically demanding (crawling, climbing, high steps, etc.) so players need to be fully mobile or else just stand on the outside at times. No real cohesive storyline, and not enough simultaneous puzzles to make it fun for larger groups. Overall still enjoyable, but somewhat unsatisfying due to the lack of cohesion.
The SecretMPowerEscape roomIRLPuzzles were decent but not particularly connected. Theme seemed kind of like an afterthought, but game mechanics were interesting. We wasted about 5 mins on one puzzle that turned out hadn’t been reset correctly, so when we solved it there was just an empty safe and we couldn’t figure out what to do with it. GM didn’t bother to tell us we had solved the puzzle and to move on bc it was a mistaken reset, which was annoying to find out after the fact. Otherwise it was ok, wouldn’t do it with escape room novices bc of the lack of flow, but for those who just enjoy doing escape puzzles it was good.
LollylandPalace GamesEscape roomOther Definitely not an escape room, but a cute game-ified mini golf experience. Worth doing, but we also booked an actual escape room to do on the same day
EscobarReykjavik EscapeEscape roomIRLWe were allowed to play this with only 3 people and that made it more fun. Lots of puzzles and fun mechanics that made good use of the limited tech. Very old school room and not all the puzzles were super logical to complete, but we were able to get to the conclusions all the same. Wouldn’t recommend for first timers, but an enjoyable time for a small group of experienced players.
