Servants of SleightThe Exit Games FLEscape roomIRLProbably my favourite game so far. A must play for anyone who can make it to Clearwater
Pins & Needles Tattoo ParlorThe Exit Games FLEscape roomIRLAmazing game. Wonderfully immersive, with an amazing array of different types of puzzles. The staff are also fantastic. So nice to have a GM that is completely on top of the action! Highly recommended.
La RébellionThe Cipher Room St PetersEscape roomIRLExcellent game! A lot of puzzles, but there was good flow from one to the next. Cool set with lots of immersive elements. Very pleasant and helpful GM. Recommended!!
Phantom Files: The Investigation Of Lockturne ManorThe Escape Ventures - Port CharlotteEscape roomIRLAmong my favourite escape rooms. The set was really imaginative and immersive, and there were a lot of unique elements. We progressed very smoothly through the puzzles, with only a couple of points where we were briefly stymied. A final act like none I’ve ever seen. Very highly recommended!
Hide + SeekThe Escape WarehouseEscape roomIRLWorth the drive to Ponchatoula! Very immersive, imaginative game with some elements we hadn’t seen before. No jump scares, but the milieu was definitely creepy. GM was great and gave clues that were the right amount of helpful.
The Seed Of HopeThe Sanctuary Escape GamesEscape roomIRLI have mixed feelings about how to rate this room. It is incredibly immersive, the individual puzzles are not unreasonably hard, and clues were freely given as needed. But with a group of 6 people, actively engaged the whole time, we only managed to get through 52% of the room. I honestly don’t think it’s possible to finish this room in the 75 minutes allotted. I find that frustrating—it feels a bit disingenuous to assign 75 minutes to a room that will take 2-3 hours to complete. I do recommend the game, but if you’re coming from out of town, I’d recommend booking 2 time slots (or even 3). If you’re a local, be prepared to make notes on your first visit so that you can get to the same point as quickly as possible.
Crazy Train: The Ballad of Skeemin' PlotzDoldrick's Escape RoomEscape roomIRLThis is a visually super cool game, and a very inventive usage of a small space. I personally liked the somewhat cheesy animations, but it’s not going to be for everyone. There were a few puzzles that felt tedious. But generally a cool, very immersive experience
Cutthroat Cavern13th Gate EscapeEscape roomIRLAs everyone else has said, the set really is extraordinary. Definitely worth doing the game for that reason. There was a good assortment of puzzles, and one mechanism we’d never seen before which was cool. That being said, I have to admit to being disappointed. Part of the reason is that a technical problem robbed us of the biggest dramatic reveal. And part of the reason is just that my expectations were so high. I’d recommend that anyone thinking about doing this game avoid watching the promotional video, which gives away too much that is cool. Also some of the puzzles were just kind of annoying. The clue system (not iPads) was frustrating too. Ultimately I’m glad I did this game, but for all its fancy reputation there are games I’ve definitely enjoyed a lot more.
Click 'N Glitch Arcade PalaceThe Escape Ventures - Port CharlotteEscape roomIRLWe really enjoyed this game. As people who grew up in the 80s, there were lots of familiar elements. The puzzles flowed very well from one to another, and there was a good variety with some fun surprises. Highly recommended!
The Murder of Max Sinclair [prev. Case Closed]Case Closed EdinburghEscape roomIRLAn experience really like no other. The strongest narrative I’ve ever experienced in an Escape Room. Simultaneously a very unflashy set and yet an extraordinarily immersive experience. A must do in Edinburgh!
