MagnificoEscaparium - LavalEscape roomIRLMagnifico is the #1 world in the room for a reason! The set, the acting, the story and the puzzles all work seamlessly together to make a touching and unforgettable experience. The sheer quality of this room made me go back and adjust all my other Morty ratings. I honestly wish I could go back and experience it again for the first time. Edit: coming back to this review now that I’ve done more rooms and still this is like the best room I’ve done by far. Literally nothing gets even close to topping it and I don’t think anything else ever will.
La Cathédrale Oubliée [The Forgotten Cathedral]Escaparium - LavalEscape roomIRLI might be biased because I don’t like scary rooms (and was expecting spooky not scary) but I didn’t really get the hype. The set was impressive and the actors did a great job. There was one particular puzzle which imo isn’t that well designed and is confusing, and took up a lot of our group’s time and was frustrating (and broke immersion for us). It’s a high bar because I had come off of doing Magnifico and Wardrobe for Sale but I would rank this room lower than both. Again, I’m not into horror so if you are, I’m sure you’ll have an amazing time (except for that one puzzle I mentioned).
Ghost PatrolTrivium GamesEscape roomIRLIncredibly immersive, gorgeous set design, lovely staff, really fun and creative puzzles. This is the highest rated room in the area for a reason and might be one of my favorites I’ve ever done.
Storyteller's SecretBoxarooEscape roomIRLthis genuinely might be the best room I’ve ever done, and I’ve done a good number of really amazing rooms. We did this with four people which I thought was the perfect number! The set design here was incredible, it was so immersive and the all the puzzles were just steeped in the world we were in. Everything flowed so well together, solving things felt really satisfying, and I was impressed by how creative some of the solutions were. Would highly highly highly recommend this room to anyone who is going to Boston! Their other rooms are also quite fun but this one is really special. Edit: coming back to this review after doing Magnifico and some other high TERPECA rated rooms, and honestly this room still holds up and is solidly in my top ten.
The StorykeeperLocurioEscape roomIRLLOVED this room! The acting was top notch, the whimsical theme was really fun (and felt quite magical at times!), the hint giving system was really clever and immersive, the puzzles were clever, really well integrated and nicely co-op and fit gorgeously into the set. Also the set design was A+. One of my top 10 rooms for sure, there’s a reason why it’s the #1 room in Seattle! With two players we were cutting it a little close on time (only 15 mins left) but I felt like for the size and parallelizability of the room, 4 ppl max would be ideal, with 2 letting you really experience all the puzzles! Lastly, huge shoutout to our GMs and the staff overall! They were really sweet and great to talk to, made the whole experience fantastic.
Chapter 1: Occam's ApartmentOff The Couch GamesEscape roomIRLthis room is awesome, prolly one of my favorites. a lil spooky also. love the concept of being able to book the rooms back to back to have an immersive flow between them. staff here are really nice. super excited to do the rest of them.
UndercookedOmescape - SunnyvaleEscape roomIRLSuper unique room! Lots of fun puzzles! I had a full group but everyone was constantly working on or solving something. Probably one of my favorite rooms. Set design slapped.
Chapter 3: The MorgueOff The Couch GamesEscape roomIRLthis room!!! amazing. the game show aspect was so fun, the puzzles were really unique, and despite being a huge scaredy cat I really enjoyed the ambience of the room. plus as usual the staff here are incredible folks. we spent like 2 hrs afterwards chatting with them if that says anything 🥰
Armoire à Vendre [Wardrobe for Sale]Escaparium - LavalEscape roomIRLI LOVED this room! Like, so much. The only thing I disliked about it is that it ended :’) the set is SO gorgeous and the puzzles and well integrated. The characters in the story are adorable and full of life, and I loved the whimsical vibe. There’s a specific transition that blew the minds of our whole group and it felt really magical. If you’re coming to Escaparium, do not skip this one.
Projet R.E.S.E.T. [Project R.E.S.E.T.]Immersia Escape GamesEscape roomIRLSuper creative concept! We landed ourselves 3rd on the leaderboard and I’ll be forever kicking myself for the 2-3 minutes I spent not putting two and two together for one of the puzzles. Anyways, this was one of my favorite games at Immersia and esp bc the concept is so cool, it’s one of the few I’d recommend if you’re headed to Montreal for some games!
