Ghost PatrolTrivium GamesEscape roomIRLThis game was a joy. There is a lot to like about it. It is challenging and the four of us barely made it through in time. While I absolutely loved this game, we would have liked it to be more “ghostly”.

Storyteller's SecretBoxarooEscape roomIRLThis was a fun and unique game. We love story telling games. The hint system was great, as were many of the puzzles and mechanics. We also really enjoyed the intro to the game. What we didn’t enjoy was having to go back and forth and search the different areas for what had opened or what to do next. In that regard, the flow of the game wasn’t the best. However, they try to help you out at times by shining a light on what to look at if you’re a bit lost. That was appreciated. Overall, we loved much of this game and highly recommend it.
Crane ManorClue IQEscape roomIRLReally enjoyed this game. Love the theme. We liked this one more than Excalibur (which is still a fun game). The final room, however, could use a bit more signposting to improve the game flow. But overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience.
40 ThievesMindTrap Escape Room - TemeculaEscape roomIRLThe intro to this game was one of the best we have ever experienced. The set and decor was fabulous. The shop keepers talking to you was a great touch. We loved the puzzles and game play. Highly recommended.
The Chesapeake Bay ButcherColonial Escape RoomEscape roomIRLScary games are not usually our thing, but this game was fantastic. The set design, game flow and puzzles were all very good. There are so many little things they do that makes this game exceptional, from leading you to where you need to go via lighting, to moving the story along in different ways…and there are scares, of course, which wasn’t over the top but did get us a few times. We also appreciated the (limited) live actor part of this game. Apparently, they have tweaked the game over time to improve it and I think they have it perfectly dialed in at this point.
UndercookedOmescape - SunnyvaleEscape roomIRLA very interesting game. It’s definitely one of those where you will not get to experience all the puzzles as everyone is running around working on their own or with one other. There is so much to do. It’s all about earning money for completing recipes. There was frustration, anxiety and triumphs (it kind of feels like your on a cooking competition show). While we didn’t complete all the puzzles, we all had a good time.
Save The CityCity 13Escape roomIRLI have to give City 13 high praise for what they’ve done. Tying in their four individual rooms into one cohesive experience is very cool. You can tell that the rooms were built with the Save the City experience in mind from the start. The set design is really well done. The puzzles overall are also really good. But it’s not perfect. The story is driven by audio narration. All four of us found the ongoing story a bit confusing at times and, quite frankly, uninteresting. If they were to have it be visual through video rather than just auditory, that would make a huge difference. Also, flashlights and something to take notes on are not provided. We all were constantly using our phone flashlights. You can use your phone for these things (battery drain), or you can bring your own flashlights and a notebook. That said, the experience of doing a four hour game tying the rooms altogether and adding additional puzzles in between the rooms was amazing. It’s unlike anything else available in the US that I know of.
Mogollon Monster: Scouting for Arizona's BigfootThe Nemesis ClubEscape roomIRLI’ve played a couple of Bigfoot games and this was the best one. We had a lot of fun and our game master Emma did a wonderful job. From the intro to the set design to the ending, it was all great. While it’s almost a “love” for me, I would have liked headlamps instead of lanterns and less searching. But those are personal things that others won’t care about. That aside, I highly recommend this game.
The Seed Of HopeThe Sanctuary Escape GamesEscape roomIRLWith over 250 rooms played, this one is currently my favorite, or at least in the top 3 (it's so hard to choose). We aren't into horror/scary games per se. But, we have found that we do enjoy creepy rooms, and this one is definitely that. To this day, we have not seen game mechanics in any other rooms that Sanctuary employs in Seed of Hope. The puzzles are fantastic. The flow is terrific. The set and decor are amazing. The storyline and how they keep you engaged with what is happening is so good. We still talk about this game and compare all others to it. Sanctuary hit it out of the park with this one. Beware that there is some ducking/crawling and there are stairs. Not all players need to crawl or climb stairs, though. It is a four-person game, and you NEED four or more people. There is so much to do and see. I would LOVE it if at some point they would offer a two-person, two-hour experience on a weekday. Wishful thinking, I know. I have only replayed one game (Servants of Sleight). This is a game I plan to replay with friends that haven't done it yet. It's that good. Oh, and the staff are all so friendly and helpful.
