Sweethearts Ice Cream ParlourThe Cool SpaceEscape roomIRLAfter playing Seance and absolutely loving it, I walked into this room with really high expectations and it totally delivered. A lot of new escape rooms try to impress you with flashy ideas or big effects, but Sweeties is just a great escape room that doesn’t need any of that. It’s got an awesome set, really clever puzzles, and a solid story. The retro diner vibe pulls you right in and everything, puzzles, story, and setting, works together perfectly to give everyone a fun experience. I’m super excited to check out the other two rooms they’ve got coming!
ExtractionThe Curium ExperienceEscape roomIRLOh boy where do I even start with this one. The building in which the escape room is located is extremely deceptive from the outside and looks like a warehouse. Once you enter though, you are greeted with a very stylised lobby and I suppose fits with the secret agent theme of their venue. The room itself was an absolutely awesome experience! There is a plethora of puzzles in each of the rooms and the room takes place over multiple stories of building. There is a great variety in the puzzles and you (mostly) know what you need to focus on. Keep in mind that they want all of their players to experience the whole room so if you only get a limited amount of time to solve as many things in the room as possible before you are ushered into the next room. Theming of the room was great with a lot of high tech puzzles involved which added to the overall immersion of the room, usually you have finnicky issues with mechanical puzzles but I don't think we encountered even one in this room. This is rated one of the best rooms in Melbourne for a reason so if you are in the city, this is a must do.
SeanceThe Cool SpaceEscape roomIRLWhat an absolutely awesome room which makes full use of the space you're in. There is so much packed into such a small room and the game definitely benefits from it! Despite sitting for the majority of the game, the puzzle vary so much and you usually know what to work on since there is great feedback when you solve anything. The gamemaster we had was also extremely passionate and we stayed and chatted with him for 40 minutes after our game was done. Do yourself a favour and play this room now!
Cabin CultStrange World Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLStrange world is quite unique in Sydney, they are the only company in the city that do horror comedy rooms and that makes it stand out from a lot of places. Having done, Mrs claws I was worried that the room may have just been a rehashed version of it but The layout had been completely changed and offering a completely different experience. The room isn't that particularly scary due to the added comedy elements so I lot of players that don't do well with horror will be fine in this room. After the first scare or two, you generally expect them. The room's atmosphere was really cool and definitely felt like a random cabin in the middle of the woods. Puzzle design was great! There was a good mix of puzzles that were very different! Tanner also was a great host and very passionate about that they do and even acted out the alternative ending for us! Not sure how permanent this room since this was switched to from Mrs Claws but definitely do it if you haven't!
Mayhem ManorContainaphobiaEscape roomIRLA very spooky room as soon as you arrive at the venue. The gamemaster does a great job at unnerving before you are let into the room. The room itself was great as well with linear puzzles but there are a couple of things that are easy to miss if you dont fully search everything. This room does involve a lot of searching so be prepared to look everywhere for clues. The room itself isnt particularly scary but there are times where audio will try to unnerve you which seem to be quite effective with my team members. There is also such a cool ending in this room as well!
IntrudersMission Escape George StEscape roomIRLAWESOME ESCAPE ROOM. This room has a live actor and he comes out of now where a lot of the time to keep you on your toes. A lot of horror movie tropes as well making you feel like you are in a movie. YOU WILL BE CHASED. Also it is more narrative based but there is an awesome plot twist.
Mafia: The Golden RingAdventure Rooms - Melbourne (Bourke St)Escape roomIRLI really loved this room! As with most adventure rooms the set was beautifully designed with the restaurant being very realistic! There were also a large variety of abstract and challenging puzzles in this room which further elevated the experience of the room!
Mrs ClawsStrange World Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLThis is a awesome room with great puzzles and horror elements. Aesthetically the room is great, giving the vibe of a creepy Santa's workshop. The live actor also adds greatly to the experience since just being aware of them popping out at anytime adds an air of tension. Definitely one of the must do rooms in Sydney.
The SacrificeMission Escape George StEscape roomIRLThe sacrifice is a very well made room from the aesthetics, the puzzles and the live actors all perfectly combine to create a great experience. The live actors really elevate the experience and give you a sense of dread of when they are going to pop out. This is definitely one of the must do escape rooms in Sydney.
Speakeasy: Secrets Of The Green FairyAdventure Rooms - Melbourne (Bourke St)Escape roomIRLWhat a great room with an amazing beautiful set. You can tell a lot of effort was made to add immerse you into the theme of a speakeasy. Every puzzle in the room itself was in theme with the room and nothing felt out of place. The gamemaster was also great and enthusiastic as well!
