“The study was my first room at the basement. It was amazing in every way. Perfect amount of scary and challenging. The actor made the room so immersive and was so kind after the game. I love this location and cannot wait to do more rooms here”

“I love this whole series of The Basement from end to end and the finish was just great. The set design was fantastic and the puzzles were super fun to work through. We did get a little stuck a couple times but Partly that’s just because the room is relatively big and there were only three of us and at least one is doesn’t usually do escape rooms. Even with all that, we managed to squeak out with very little time to spare. I would def recommend doing this whole series from the beginning. It was so fun!”

“An all-day experience from 10AM-4PM on a weekday, all 4 escape rooms in this location back-to-back and given essentially up to 90 minutes a room. Light food and drinks in a private room provided. Tier list from most favorite to least favorite: 1. Chapter 1 - The Basement (live actor) 2. Chapter 3 - The Study (live actor) 3. Chapter 4 - The Courtyard (live actor) 4. “An extremely fun room with a lot to do. Even though they warn you that there are a lot riddles to lead you to puzzle solutions, you (we) quickly got into "GO GO GO" mode and constantly had to slow our brains down (usually with the help of our friendly and amazing Game Master, Erica). Combination lock heavy rooms are not our favorite, BUT this room managed to do it in a way that made it a lot of fun. And you can tell from the set design and puzzles that this room was created by people (Darryl, I believe) that really love escape rooms, and wanted to make sure the people that play their rooms walk away with a great experience. And I think this passion for escape rooms helped elevate what may have been an okay room in someone else's hand to a great room in theirs.”

“I easily rate this room a 5/5 (ck out my bio for rating system). First off, best GM ever! Alex was welcoming, friendly and very enthusiastic about the rooms which made us all the more excited to begin. But not before we discovered a treasure in the bathroom! And in the lobby! Great warm-up for our room. The set and theme were wonderfully executed. The 'wow' moments were plenty. Solid puzzles including a couple we hadn't seen before. I enjoyed every minute of this room, so much so that we begged for a second one after we were done!”

“Great game. Very immersive. The set design was excelent throughout and the puzzles were challenging and somw were fairly difficult, while also making sense for the story. Would say it shouldn't be one of the first rooms you ever try, but an excelent choice for those who have some escape room experience, or are escape room vets. Big shout out to PJ for being a great host.”

“The set design on this room was great! Most of the puzzles were pretty fun with some surprising moments thrown in as you spend time exploring and discovering. There was one particular puzzle that’s honestly just annoying to do and takes too much time but otherwise this room was pretty great and had a unique design. I would def recommend!”

“Wow, what an incredible experience. The hype lives up to it! Fully immersed right as you step in and the story was awesome. Lots of crawling and running, very twisty and you get turned around easily. I've had a few rooms with actors now but this by far was the best! Our GMs were awesome! I've done a few guestroom now and they have all been great. If you're a horror room fan you should have this one on your list.”

“Very immersive and excellent use of the theme, loved the tie in with characters, and environment was neat to complete puzzles in. Did not care for the game master having to announce the time every 15 minutes- a clock or more blended way to have time awareness would have been better. Only critique though”

Has some fun surprises during the experience. Highly recommend for everyone to do. GM was great in giving us a couple of nudges along the way to make sure we made it out and got the full experience. “Stash House exceeded my expectations. I’ve had my eye on this room since pre-COVID and I finally had the opportunity to play it. Its location was a bit inconspicuous and it played its part in the storyline, especially at night. The hint system worked perfectly for the theme. It never felt like an actual hint. The puzzles were fun, well thought out, and very direct. There some fun surprises as well! Pham was our host and he was awesome. It’s always great talking about escape rooms with other ER fanatics.”

“An amazing experience front to end. Lab rat is one of the most unique escape rooms I’ve ever had the chance of playing. With a great puzzle flow and set at its core, Lab Rat never once had me questioning why something happened. While the room itself is clearly very old. With visual wear and tear. To the point where some props and set piece are peeling off the wall. I still think the charm of this room supersedes any of those issues I have with wear and tear and this game is one I’ll surely remember for years to come. A wonderful game from hatch!”

On the easier side, but it’s less about “escaping” and more about the individual pleasure behind each little episode in the room.”

The escape room scene is alive in Los Angeles. Since the first escape rooms arrived in Los Angeles in 2016, the film capital of the United States hasn’t stopped crafting these immersive puzzle experiences. In fact, Los Angeles proper is home to 49 different escape room venues. If you look around, you’ll notice several places that are expanding the definition of experiential entertainment in Hollywood. From the expansive Escape Hotel on Hollywood Boulevard to the innovative Escape Revolution on Melrose Avenue, there’s plenty to experience in the City of Angels. With over 170 escape games in the entire area, the possibilities are nearly endless — you’ll find games with themes of horror, adventure, crime, espionage, and plenty you may not expect.
Remember those point-and-click adventure games where you’re locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to find the key and escape? Those online games were the original inspiration for the live escape rooms you’ll find all across the world today. An escape room is an immersive experience where you (and your team of 2 or more people) are locked in a room with a series of puzzles for 60 minutes. To escape and win the game, you have to look for clues, solve the puzzles, and find the key. While most escape rooms only give you 60 minutes to complete the challenge, others may have shorter or longer time limits. Many venues are private rooms where you and your team are the only players. However, some places may pair you with other groups who booked a slot at the same time. And don’t worry about getting stuck, asking for hints on a difficult puzzle is totally normal. While the original escape room (created by SCRAP in 2007) had a fairly simple aesthetic, today’s escape games often take you into a different world. Artistic set designs, secret doors, and unique interactive elements are all part of the fun. It’s like an adventure game that you can interact with in real life. But if you’re hoping to preview any rooms before you book a game somewhere, detailed images and videos can be hard to find. To keep the puzzles a secret and preserve the experience of seeing the room for the first time, most venues only offer a few photos or a short trailer about the room’s theme or narrative. The only way to know what it’s like is to go and try it for yourself!
There are plenty of awesome escape rooms to choose from in Los Angeles. The goal of Morty is to make escape rooms more accessible for everyone to find and play. With Morty, you can: - Browse escape rooms anywhere in the country - Read reviews and ratings from other community members - Book a room together with your friends Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned escape room enthusiast, our aim is to help you play more escape rooms and visit more immersive attractions.
Most escape room venues don’t accept walk-ins, and time slots for popular games may fill up fast. Besides that, not every escape room is the same — some have varying difficulties, and you don’t want to get stuck playing a room that’s beyond your experience level. That’s why the best way to book an escape room in Los Angeles is through the Morty app. You can get updates on new games, read reviews, compare details (including difficulty, theme, runtime) and plan an outing with friends, all on the same platform. You can even coordinate games with your friends collaboratively. Download the Morty app and book your adventure today!
