“I love this whole series of The Basement from end to end and the finish was just great. The set design was fantastic and the puzzles were super fun to work through. We did get a little stuck a couple times but Partly that’s just because the room is relatively big and there were only three of us and at least one is doesn’t usually do escape rooms. Even with all that, we managed to squeak out with very little time to spare. I would def recommend doing this whole series from the beginning. It was so fun!”

“Dead and Breakfast is a worthwhile compilation of your experience! Note that you will start out of order but that will not detract from your experience. They give you fair warnings before you enter each room with what to expect and the production value and live actors are top notch. I find myself leaning towards the live actor in the study the most as Aiden captured both hint giving and the theme most vividly. It's scary, but not too scary. I think most will manage just fine. I will say that none of the actors lacked passion here. And neither will you.”

“Top 3 Escape Rooms I've done! I absolutely loved the set design and this is by far the best "Atlantis" themed room out there. The owners are so nice and take a lot of pride in their work. My fiance and I escaped with just 2 of us, but we did ask for a few clues. I highly recommend this room!”

“An extremely fun room with a lot to do. Even though they warn you that there are a lot riddles to lead you to puzzle solutions, you (we) quickly got into "GO GO GO" mode and constantly had to slow our brains down (usually with the help of our friendly and amazing Game Master, Erica). Combination lock heavy rooms are not our favorite, BUT this room managed to do it in a way that made it a lot of fun. And you can tell from the set design and puzzles that this room was created by people (Darryl, I believe) that really love escape rooms, and wanted to make sure the people that play their rooms walk away with a great experience. And I think this passion for escape rooms helped elevate what may have been an okay room in someone else's hand to a great room in theirs.”

“I don’t give out Morty “hearts” a lot… we’ve done a lot of rooms and a lot blend together at this point. You can tell that this room was made by people who really LOVE escape rooms. Hard to say anything other than delightful and cute. This is definitely an easier room in terms of difficulty. Take your time and solve puzzles together if you want to get the most fun experience. If I could recommend any first room, it would be this one hands down.”

“The set design on this room was great! Most of the puzzles were pretty fun with some surprising moments thrown in as you spend time exploring and discovering. There was one particular puzzle that’s honestly just annoying to do and takes too much time but otherwise this room was pretty great and had a unique design. I would def recommend!”

“This was a really fun room with a great theme. It is based off of the newer Jumanji movies, so you might enjoy (re)watching those before you do this room. The set design in the room was great and the puzzles were fun. Nothing too crazy difficult, but lots to solve. I’d recommend it for the fun theming and well made set.”

“We made it out!! Freedom at last!!!! This was our favorite prison break room so far. Definitely better if you do it with 2-4 people at most. Super fun immersive experience. Has some fun surprises during the experience. Highly recommend for everyone to do. GM was great in giving us a couple of nudges along the way to make sure we made it out and got the full experience. Can’t wait to try the other Rooms here.”

“This was a great room. The setup is simple but the way the room unfolds as you play it was surprising and entertaining. Several of the puzzle chains were among my favorites that I have done in a long time. The subject matter is, obviously, mature so don’t bring the kiddos but as long as you are OK with profuse drug references and associated PG-13 rated concepts you will be fine. I mean, not if you fail the room, then you’ll be busted by the cops and that will definitely harsh your mellow. But otherwise fine. Highly recommended.”

“We played Ghost Hunters and Avalanche and had such a wonderful time. The rooms are great, especially Avalanche, and it was refreshing being able to play such unique rooms with such great theming and set design. The puzzles were cool and Avalanche in particular had an incredibly unique and well executed story. Alida ran both our games and she’s just the best. Super helpful and funny, she made the experience truly great. Will definitely be coming back to play Sherlock, Area 51 and the new one when it’s open. Thanks again Alida!!”

The atmosphere was amazing across a range of different styles and the immersion element was excellent with a great setting and use of audios. The puzzles were great and the setting was used to amplify this further. I liked the optional merchandise, nice touch! They also offer online rooms at a very reasonable price to purchase.”

“8/10 Of all the mechanical “Gen 1” rooms I have done, this really is one of the best. Just like paint on canvas, you can feel the love that was put into every brush stroke. Fun fresh puzzles, strong flow, hilarious set design, cute story, it’s going to be very difficult not to enjoy yourself in this amazing experience. With two players we had 11 minutes to spare with no hints. Plenty of time left over to give belly rubs to Beans and geek out over the room. Inksidious definitely deserves its high praise!”

The escape room scene is alive in Los Angeles. Since the first escape rooms arrived in Los Angeles in 2016, the film capital of the United States hasn’t stopped crafting these immersive puzzle experiences. In fact, Los Angeles proper is home to 49 different escape room venues. If you look around, you’ll notice several places that are expanding the definition of experiential entertainment in Hollywood. From the expansive Escape Hotel on Hollywood Boulevard to the innovative Escape Revolution on Melrose Avenue, there’s plenty to experience in the City of Angels. With over 170 escape games in the entire area, the possibilities are nearly endless — you’ll find games with themes of horror, adventure, crime, espionage, and plenty you may not expect.
Remember those point-and-click adventure games where you’re locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to find the key and escape? Those online games were the original inspiration for the live escape rooms you’ll find all across the world today. An escape room is an immersive experience where you (and your team of 2 or more people) are locked in a room with a series of puzzles for 60 minutes. To escape and win the game, you have to look for clues, solve the puzzles, and find the key. While most escape rooms only give you 60 minutes to complete the challenge, others may have shorter or longer time limits. Many venues are private rooms where you and your team are the only players. However, some places may pair you with other groups who booked a slot at the same time. And don’t worry about getting stuck, asking for hints on a difficult puzzle is totally normal. While the original escape room (created by SCRAP in 2007) had a fairly simple aesthetic, today’s escape games often take you into a different world. Artistic set designs, secret doors, and unique interactive elements are all part of the fun. It’s like an adventure game that you can interact with in real life. But if you’re hoping to preview any rooms before you book a game somewhere, detailed images and videos can be hard to find. To keep the puzzles a secret and preserve the experience of seeing the room for the first time, most venues only offer a few photos or a short trailer about the room’s theme or narrative. The only way to know what it’s like is to go and try it for yourself!
There are plenty of awesome escape rooms to choose from in Los Angeles. The goal of Morty is to make escape rooms more accessible for everyone to find and play. With Morty, you can: - Browse escape rooms anywhere in the country - Read reviews and ratings from other community members - Book a room together with your friends Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned escape room enthusiast, our aim is to help you play more escape rooms and visit more immersive attractions.
Most escape room venues don’t accept walk-ins, and time slots for popular games may fill up fast. Besides that, not every escape room is the same — some have varying difficulties, and you don’t want to get stuck playing a room that’s beyond your experience level. That’s why the best way to book an escape room in Los Angeles is through the Morty app. You can get updates on new games, read reviews, compare details (including difficulty, theme, runtime) and plan an outing with friends, all on the same platform. You can even coordinate games with your friends collaboratively. Download the Morty app and book your adventure today!
